Tomorrow Secret Midnight Press has the honor of hosting a collection of local authors and poets at the book fair in partnership with , , , and Redbird Books to Prisoners. From 11 am to 3 pm come shop, listen, and celebrate the power of the written and spoken word. You’ll be able to sign up for a library card while you’re there. We’ll also be accepting book donations via Redbird Books to Prisoners.

The book fair is free to the public and will be taking place at the Gravity location of Roosevelt Coffeehouse 🖤

Open mics are coming back!

Starting in our hometown of Columbus, Oh | Every first Wednesday of the Month @
Doors will open at 6:30 pm
Poetry will start at 7 pm
Donation based entry ($10 suggested)

This is a safe place to come express and be vulnerable. All are welcome.

You do NOT need to share if you attend. You’re more than welcome to come and be a part of the night just by being yourself.

There is so much to say about the history of Secret Midnight Press. For some people it’s been a community, for other people it’s been a safe place and encouragement to self express, and for some people simply a destination for poetry.

It’s been all of those things and more. It’s been family, it’s been vulnerability, it’s been education, it’s been empowerment, and sometimes even disappointment.

In March 2020, we were a week away from starting a national series of open-mics when the world shutdown.

Both Jesse and Ashley tried to salvage the situation, but ultimately had to put their energy into fighting for their own mental health and Secret Midnight Press went dormant.

Operation costs continued and we found ourselves simultaneously too depressed to try and save the company as we were trying to save ourselves.

It is a very vulnerable moment for us, but we are here asking for your help. A new life, healthy start, and strong community.

In March 2020 we were set to launch a series of open mics around the country (and eventually in Europe).

The weekend of Secret Midnight Place’s debut… Everything paused and each one of us held our breath waiting to see what would come next, but things never “went back to normal”.

Instead, we all found ourselves fighting for our lives by trying our best to maintain something resembling sanity for what has now been two very hard years. It’s impacted each one of us on mental and emotional levels.

The shutdown halted SMP in its tracks. Jesse and Ashley, along with many many many of us, suffered from the heaviness the pandemic brought on. It killed our motivation and choked SMP of resources to keep things running.

But we are thawing and the breath of life is returning. Next Friday in Columbus we are having our first in-person event in over two years. Join , , , , and a secret musical guest at to share poetry, art, community, music, and our hearts as we are together again. 7:30 pm. $10 online or $12 at the door. (Tickets in bio)
