In a follow-up to the story we broke this morning regarding a large police presence near the bike path, the Cranston Police Department has confirmed that a body has been found near Tongue Pond. The department is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and is working closely with the Rhode Island Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death. As more details emerge, the police are expected to provide further updates to the public. Stay tuned for additional information as the situation develops.

A 69-year-old man, Neil Douglas, was found dead in his home located on off Park Ave. on Harding Ave., in the Edgewood. The standoff with police that began around 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas, who had terminal cancer, allegedly threatened to kill himself and his wife, who escaped and called 911. He fired at officers but missed, hitting a nearby home without causing injuries. After hours of negotiation, police used a drone to check the interior, discovering Douglas had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Cranston police said the two men suspected of a home invasion and car theft over the weekend have been arrested.🚨🏎️

Johnathan Costa, 19, Cranston, was taken into custody in Florida, while 18 year old Logan Slezak was arrested in Rhode Island.

Early Sunday morning, officers responded to a call reporting a home invasion. The homeowners said two masked men with guns broke into their house and demanded keys to their cars.

The two men then allegedly fled in the homeowners Ferrari convertible. The car was spotted by the Rhode Island State Police, but was lost in a high-speed chase that went into Connecticut. Later that night the New York State Police attempted to pull the car over, but were also unsuccessful.

After making it to Florida, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver took off. The car was found later that day under a tarp at a Palm Coast home.

Both men have been charged with breaking and entering wi the intent to commit a felony, using a firearm while committing a crime of violence, and conspiracy. It is expected Costa will face more charges for the police pursuits.

Cranston police officer, Shane Lynch, who was arrested over the weekend, will no longer face charges of disorderly conduct and destruction of property. A Massachusetts district court judge dismissed the charges, which arose from an incident at Gillette Stadium during a Kenny Chesney on Saturday night. Lynch, who was off duty at the time appeared to be heavily intoxicated, was removed from the venue after allegedly urinating on a woman’s $180 cowboy boots. The charges were dropped at the prosecution’s request after Lynch paid $100 in court fees following his arraignment on Monday. 🍺🚔👢

A shooting investigation has led to the temporary closure of 39 West Restaurant in Cranston. The incident occurred during an event at the restaurant which is located next to the St. Mary’s Feast. Breaking News: Shooting Incident near the St. Mary Feast in Knightsville.

We have received reports of a shooting incident near the St. Mary Feast located on Phenix Ave, near the intersection of Green Ave. shortly after 11 PM. It’s been reported one individual has been shot and emergency rescue teams are currently at the scene. The local authorities requested assistance from the Rhode Island State Police to help secure and shut down the feast for the safety of attendees. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
