British writer and publisher Richard Mann is celebrating the authorship and release of 100 book titles and editions - 84 about Indonesia, the latest focusing on Bali and new tourist destinations east of Bali. Forty four have been made in collaboration with the Government of Indonesia and one for the late First Lady of Indonesia, Ibu Tien Soeharto. At 268 pages, full colour, this is the first ever
official guide to Bali’s many museums and art galleries made in collaboration with the Museums Association of Bali (HIMUSBA) appointed by the Governor of Bali. Mann knows Indonesia well and has given nearly 30 years of his life to explaining and promoting the country. He began writing and publishing books about Indonesia in the early 1980s, encouraged by then Chairman of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board, Ginandjar Kartasasmita, and continued promoting foreign direct investment and trade until 9/11 in the United States, after which realities and governments changed in Indonesia. Mann is currently working onthe first ever book to promote the palaces of Bali as vehicles of artistic and cultural expression which he hopes may lead to an annual Bali palaces festival. In June 2011, he released the first ever full colour photo guide book to Lombok’s Gili Islands, now reputedly among the world’s top 10 tourist destinations.
