‘THIS IS WHO WE ARE’ trailer - A documentary about skateboarding in Palestine. SCREENING DETAILS BELOW:

**So collaborative post makes sense, see below for CodeWordZebra’s description of film**

In October 2019 I went out to Palestine with a charity called and a local company called . SkatePal started operating in Palestine over 9 years ago. They build skateparks, and teach the local kids how to skate, whilst providing them with the equipment to do so.

re:ply’s team recognise the difficulties in getting boards in and out of Palestine, and how buying skateboarding products out there isn’t a luxury they have. re:ply set up recycling workshops in Palestine, inviting kids from all over to come and get involved and recycle old boards to give them a new lease of life.

I went to Palestine to document the positive impact something like skateboarding can have on a community with the harsh limitations that Palestine unfortunately has, and also to show how recycling can play a big part within a skateboarding community.

Children who might not have otherwise met, are now connecting and becoming friends through skateboarding. Traveling from town to town to see their fellow skater homies. It really is beautiful to witness.

This project has been my life for the last 2.5 years and I'm over the moon with how it turned out.

SCREENINGS:

We will be having a smaller screening at Queens Park Arena on Monday July 11th at 6pm (film starts at 6:15pm). Free to enter.

We will also be having an official Premiere at The GFT either late July or August. Keep an eye out here for dates.

Even if you come to the Queens Park event, it would be great if you still came to the GFT screening, as this will be advertised to a wider audience, and we are hoping to raise money for SkatePal at this event, quite literally putting skateboards under Palestinian’s feet.

If you could share this post and tag me in it ( and if possible), that would be really helpful. Hoping to spread the word as much as possible! Also go check out re:ply and SkatePal to see the great work they do. Thanks to local skatepala manager
