As a small business owner, time is your most precious commodity.
It's important to regularly evaluate your marketing plan to make sure you're not wasting time on a strategy that just isn't working.
Don't be a victim of the sunk cost fallacy - if you’ve given something a serious amount of time and effort, and you're STILL not seeing results, it's okay to move on.
I had a podcast that was doing just ok, but my YouTube channel was a hit. I realized that I could reach more people with less time and effort if I shifted ALL my focus to YouTube.
It wasn't giving up; it was about being smart with my resources.
Look at what is working and double down on that.
Redirecting your efforts to something that's working can help you get better results and make the most of your limited time as a small business owner.

3 FREE ways to drive massive traffic to your website
Want to drive more traffic to your website without spending a dime? Here are three powerful free traffic sources you can use right now:
One- Capitalize on your content. Just repurpose your existing posts and articles and share them on social media channels like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. It’s super easy, and a great way to scale out, since there are so many places you can put it.
Two- answering relevant questions on Quora and adding a link back to your website.
Three- Go all in on video. I know, it sounds hard, but if you were to commit to creating videos for Youtube, Tiktok or Instagram, you’ll start seeing traffic pretty quickly, and the results will compound over time. It’s by far my best way to drive LOTS of traffic that’s pre-primed to convert into customers.

Don’t make this website writing mistake.
You don't need to sound like a fancy-pants academic to write a quality website.
In fact, writing conversationally is way better for your audience. Keep things simple and easy to understand.
As Einstein once said, "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough."
So, put yourself in your visitors' shoes and write in a way that they can relate to.
This will help you seem more human and approachable, and make it easier for people to understand how you can help them.
Remember, less jargon, more connection!

The scientific reason your business NEEDS video 🤓
What do Lucille Ball and your business have in common?
It all goes back to the 50s, when psycologists discovered something really interesting.
Whenever a tv celebrity, like Lucy would speak directly to the camera during an ad break, people watching would feel a connection to her, as if she were a close friend they knew in real life.
It created something called a "para-social relationship," a one-sided relationship between the viewer and the person on screen.
Fast forward to today, and social media has made it easier than ever for small businesses to create these relationships with their audience.
By being on video, you can connect with your audience on a deeper level, share your personality and values, and build trust and rapport. People will feel like they know you, and that’s when selling becomes Way, way easier.

The homepage mistake that’s killing your business ❌
This top section of your homepage is THE make or break moment of your whole website.
Get it wrong and nobody’s gonna make it any further than this, and you’ve just lost a customer.
Here are the most common ways this can fail. 🧐
One- it’s unclear what you actually do. If you use vague, soft language that leaves me with more questions than answers, I’m already checked out. Be specific, and say what do offer and how.
Two- techno or business-jargon. Save your fancy words for another day, THIS ain’t the place for em. You should talk about what you do in a way a ten year old could understand.
Three- its keyword stuffed. I know you wanna rank in Google, but when you focus on that first and foremost, you’re not using language that’s persuasive or enticing.
Four- It’s more about you than me, the customer. Let me know how you’re gonna help me, not that you’re Phoenix’s #1 plumber. And that goes for the image too, make it a happy customer photo, not showing you, your team, and certainly not the outside of your building.

What’s working in Facebook ads RIGHT NOW
One- Wide open targeting. 🎯 Facebook’s algorithm is going to find your perfect audience in a matter of days WAY more accurately than any kind of interests you can tell it to go after.
Two- Lead ads. 💯 Rather than spending lots of money to take people off of facebook to opt in for your lead magnet or fill out your form, keep them inside Facebook to do the same thing. It’s way cheaper, and a more seamless experience for them too.
Three- Using Reels as the ad type. 📈 Facebook and Instagram are already pushing reels, and this type of ad is still underused, meaning there are tons of people scrolling through reels without a lot of ads for you to compete with.

3 Proven Conversion-Boosters
Are you getting some website traffic, but it’s not really turning into customers?
Here are three simple strategies to help boost those conversions.
First, add an exit pop-up to your website. When someone is about to leave, offer them an incentive to stay, like a discount or free resource. This can lead to extra conversions that you might have otherwise missed.
Second, don't underestimate the power of social proof. Adding testimonials, reviews, and logos to your website can make a big impact on conversions. Customers are more likely to trust you if they see that others have had a positive experience.
Third, use video. Pages with video on them have been shown to convert 80% better than those that don’t.

How to pick perfect website photos every time
Bad website photos are usually the biggest dead giveaway of a DIY website, and that can kill trust with potential customers pretty quick.
But here are some pro-tips to help you pick the right ones.
First, stock photos are fine, but make sure they come off as natural.
No cheesy, over-the-top expressions or exaggerated poses. Keep them roughly in the same style. Avoid mixing a black and white moody shot with a brightly colored one. It really helps to just start with one photo you love, then raid that photographers whole portfolio on whatever stock site you’re on for the rest.
Next, when it comes to photos of people, feature representations of happy customers more than you, your business, or your team members. This can help your website visitors relate to your brand and imagine themselves as your happy customers.

Instantly boost website conversions by 80%
What’s the one thing you can add to any website that’s been shown to increase conversions by up to 80%?
Video.
Here are 3 under the radar ways you can use it.
One- a video chat bubble. Chat features are already a great way to increase conversions, but this one uses video to create more of a human connection which helps people make up their mind a lot faster.
Two- FAQs. Just create 3-5 really short videos answering some FAQs AND overcoming common objections, then put em right where you’d normally just those written responses.
Three- a testimonial supercut. Rather than make people watch multiple testimonials videos, including the boring parts, cut all your best sound bites from various testimonials into one fast-paced video that just delivers hit after hit of pure persuasion power.

Steal this shortcut to FAST Google rankings!
Did you know that using video on your website can increase your search traffic by 157%?
Here’s how.
One- it can improve engagement by keeping visitors on your page for longer, showing Google that your page is worth sticking around for.
Two- more backlinks. Pages with video attract more attention, and people are much more likely to link to it, which boosts your search engine rankings.
Three- Since Google owns YouTube, embedding a relevant video on your website is another signal to google that your page is comprehensive, and will be interesting to more people.
Plus, YouTube is the second-largest search engine in the world, so showing up on there too can boost your visibility even more, and drive tons of traffic to your site.

This sneaky FB/IG ad hack is genius. 💡
There’s one type of ad you can run in facebook and instagram that has 4 hidden benefits when you use it.
Carousel ads have the highest engagement rate per post and higher CTR than single image ads, they're a really effective way to showcase the features of your product or service.
Mix images and videos for even more engagement, and use them to keep users on the platform - which will lower your ad spend - and all the while, they’re getting warmed up to your offer as they swipe through each slide.
It’s like built-in way to get the repetition that ads need to be profitable, without having to pay for 10 different ads.

❗️ Watch this BEFORE using Yelp ads!
Not worth it. They're pricey, and will actually hurt your business more than help it.
Yelp salespeople allegedly make 80-90 calls per day to unsuspecting small businesses, making some pretty big promises they just can’t keep.
What usually ends up happening is you’ll pay way more than they say you will - Seriously these ads cost a ton (like $600 for a thousand impressions - compared to around $38 for Google search ads), you won’t see any positive results, then when you go to cancel your ads, Yelp will almost always hide your good reviews, and show only your worst ones - in retaliation. 🤔
So yea, it’s pretty mafia, and...

Why most ads FAIL 🤔
If you’ve ever run ads on Facebook, or anywhere online, and it didn’t go so well, this is probably why.
Most advertising fails because people put money behind advertising something that isn't proven yet.
Ads should only be there to amplify what's already working, it won't fix a broken offer that wouldn't sell organically.
Instead of investing in advertising from the start, invest more time in research and talking to your customers to make sure that what you’re selling is solid and has a market.
This ensures that advertising is amplifying something that works, rather than trying to fix something that doesn't.
Only when you already know it sells, invest in advertising to scale its success.

You might not like this email marketing tip, buuut...
This email marketing advice is 100% true, but … a little hard to swallow.
You actually have to regularly kick people OFF your list. 🤯
If you don't regularly throw out the people who haven’t been opening up or clicking your emails, you run the risk of having your emails marked as spam and reducing the open rates of ALL the emails you send.
To prevent this from happening, just remove those cold subscribers a few times per year at least, pretty much anyone who hasn't engaged in the last thirty to ninety days.
This counterintuitive step ensures that you're sending emails to a list of engaged subscribers who are interested in what you have to say.
This will help increase your open rates and clicks, leading to more successful email marketing campaigns.
Remember, it's not personal, it's just good business. 😎

96% of websites get this wrong
Your website’s call to action button is so simple, yet almost every one I see gets it completely wrong. 🧐
Here's what you need to know to get it right, so you can make more bookings and sales:
✔️ Use clear and direct action words like "book," "get," or "schedule" to make your CTA effective.
❌ Avoid using passive words like "submit" or "learn more," since they can be unclear. Always make sure to have a clear ask, because a confused mind always says no.
✔️ When it comes to crafting a great call to action, it's all about being specific and using motivational words like "free."
✔️ Make your main CTA obvious, so it stands out and catches people's attention.
❌ Don't use the same color as the CTA anywhere else on your site - that color needs to be the “here’s where to take action” color, nothing else!
✔️ And always use a consistent design for your CTA button across all pages, with the same color, text, and style.

How fast does your website REALLY need to be?
Here’s the deal: page speed matters, but not in the way you might think.
From a people-perspective, all you need is for your website to FEEL fast. You can use a plugin like Nitropack to use lazyloading, which just makes everything at the top load lightning fast, while the rest of your page takes its time to load underneath.
But what about for SEO? Google penalizes slow sites, right? 🤔
Actually, speed is really more of a tie breaker between two otherwise weighted pages. Simply stripping down your website to the basics won't necessarily help your rankings.
You don't want to sacrifice user experience or the quality of your content in the pursuit of having a site that loads in under a second.

I can’t believe people still think this about SEO…
The average page one Google result contains 1890 words of content. Buuut, that only tells half the story. A longer page doesn't necessarily equal better rankings. Those longer pages are probably just more complete, and more helpful.
➡️ Make sure your content is high-quality and relevant to your audience, with useful information that can help them solve their problems or achieve their goals.
So, don't just focus on word count. Instead, focus on creating great content that your audience will love and find valuable.

Secrets to a high-end website (on a DIY budget)
If you wanna charge more for your services, your website needs to feel high-end to justify your price point. Here are some tips to help make any cheap looking website look more luxurious.
❌ First, ditch the crazy colors and crammed in content.
Instead, create a lot of white space and a perfect grid design to give your website that elevated perception of prestige. Stick to neutral colors and a classic look to avoid overdoing the design elements.
📷 When it comes to images, choose natural facial expressions and body language over exaggerated poses.
If a professional photographer is out of your budget, you can find good stock photos online, my personal favorite stock photographer is Jacob Lund. His stuff looks appropriately high-end, and helps sell that relaxed, happy customer vibe.
