Stripped screw? This hack with a drill really works! I honestly didn’t think it would! 100% annoying when you run into a stripped screw head, I find it happens more often with trim screws and smaller T-star heads than most, but it’s always frustrating! Was working on finishing up some details on this huge sectional build with @prowoodlumber and decided to try the hack I’ve seen recently and it 100% didn’t disappoint! I used my @flexpowertoolsna Drill, and it’s one of my favorites! Love the all metal chuck and audible locks. So much power in this one! #LifeHack #strippedscew #toolsofthetrade #screwremoval #constructiontips #constructiontip #toolgirl #womeninconstruction @prowoodlumber @flexpowertools
A little bit of country 🎵 a little bit of rock n roll 😉 If that isn’t me to a T! Sorry for the throwback today y’all, but this girl spent all day at the doctor doing tests. Thankfully, this old playhouse turned first chicken coop will always be fun! And who doesn’t love spraying paint?! 😉 For real though- fresh coat of paint on this coop! We had quite a bit of white left over from finishing the shop trim, so plenty to tackle this little playhouse turned chicken coop! Used my @gracopaintsprayers Cordless Sprayer - one of my favorite thing about this and my other Graco is how easy it is to clear a clog in the nozzle. This paint specifically dries so quickly that clogs are common, plus it’s a satin finish too, which I’m convinced tend to clog worse than flat paints. You literally turn the tip around, clear the clog, flip it back and you’re back to spraying! Roof was painted today- as well as the nesting box roofs- just need to decide on a coop floor and add some shutters, and this bad boy is wrapped! @gracohomeownersprayers Cordless Sprayer with @dewalttough batteries- spraying @sherwinwilliams Snowbound #urbanchickens #petchickens #paintsprayer #diyprojects #happychickens #chickenlife #raisingchickens #diyideas #diyblogger #paintspraying #chickensofig #painting #diylife #chickensofinstagram #homestead #chickencoop #DIY #diyhomeprojects #crazychickenlady #backyardchickens #chickenkeeping #chickenlove #farmlife #diyhome #countrygirl #rocknroll #girlswholoverock #dewalttools
Always getting jiggy with it! Y’all jigging it up too?! Built a quick spacing jig to keep the reveal on this bench uniform, super simple- made of scrap wood, but is one of the best ways to ensure the spacing stays uniform. Attached boards with my @sencobrands Brad Nailer and went back after go drive some trim head screws too! @prowoodlumber Walnut stained Pressure Treated Lumber #outdoorbuild #outdoorfurniture #outdoorfurnituredesign #jigs #spacingjigs #reveal #uniformdesign #toolsofthetrade #tricksofthetrade #womeninconstruction #womenwoodworkers #carpenther @prowoodlumber
Anyone struggle with that last 5% of a project? 9 months later and this epic pantry is still 95% complete. This is definitely where my ADHD kicks in, but it’s also the source of most of my really great ideas. Wrap beams and paint ceilings- let’s add that to my short list, right?? #adhd #adhdwomen #adhdproblems Original post- What do y’all think of these shelves?? 😍 So many folks had questions about the height and placement of the cabinets, and this was why! 😍 the brackets have worked like a charm, so I’m optimistic they’ll hold up long term, love when you take a risk that pays off! I totally love the way the colors and textures came together, and honestly the function of these shelves is exactly what I had in mind! Organizing baking ingredients, baskets with quick grab items etc, they’re wildly useful! We’re wrapping the ceiling in this space next week so we’re almost to the end of the pantry project as a whole! #pantry #pantrygoals #floatingshelves #risktaker #design #designelements #pantrydesign #pantryorganization #construction #builder #buildit #womeninconstruction #tradielady #DIY #cabinetry #carpentry #carpentersofinstagram #whiteoak
These crisp lines are EVERYTHING! What do y’all think? I’ve said before- the devil is in the details! Like most projects I make, I focus in on the smallest details to get them just right, and this Outdoor Sectional with @prowoodlumber is no exception! I wanted clean lines, and I mean - clean, so I pulled out the @boschtoolsna Track Saw to get these edges perfect! When building outdoor furniture, adding spacing just like you would on a deck is key to keeping the furniture lasting for years. Providing a way for water to drain and for the wood to expand (however slight that is) is a big deal! This outdoor sectional with @prowoodlumber may become one of my favorite builds in a long time! I spent more time than usual getting things really dialed in, but when you invest time and money into the best products, you want to be sure you do all you can to make the most of it! Plus- plans will be available too, so I’m really considering the small things that make it special! #tracksaw #prowoodlumber #prowood #prowoodworker #makersofig #womenwoodworkers #womeninconstruction #boschtools
Friday fun in the shop! What are y’all making this weekend? Every time I use the @maksiwausa BMS 1600 IR I love it a little bit more! There are endless ways to tailor your cuts to get exactly what you want, so you can easily improve your process. What do y’all think you’d use this saw for the most? #panelsaw #tablesaw #slidingtablesaw #saw #toolgirlsgarage #toolsofthetrade #protools #shoptools #shopequipment
Foam trimming- quick and easy!! How would y’all do it? Honestly trimming this foam is super satisfying- it’s probably my favorite part of the whole post setting process! In fact- my daughter asks to do it every time too- so I know it’s not just me! I use a one handed Reciprocating Saw- like this one from @skilpowertools and put on a pruning blade from @diablo_tools . Within moments the whole clean up process is done! You can fill in the dirt over the exposed foam and you’d never know the difference. Also- they’re super strong- I kicked it like 8 times for good measure since I hear there is no way they survive a breeze. Probably would have been more impactful had I left my steel toes on- but regardless it’s not going anywhere anytime soon! #expansionfoam #fenceposts #post #postsetting #cedarposts #DIY #sikafencepost #foamtechnology #fenceinstallation #fencecontractor #gateinstallation #gardengate #holmesapproved #skilpowertools
Have y’all ever seen a Hydro Axe? We’ve been in our home for almost 6 years, but one thing we grew tired of pretty quickly was the amount of maintenance brush had. Sounds counter intuitive- but trust me, it was so much work! Every storm left us with huge clean ups and it became a pretty wild source of not so friendly critters. We slowly chipped away a little at a time, but it even with a ton of effort we were always left frustrated by the roots and uneven terrain left behind. I finally suggested just bringing in a crew, and it was the best money we’ve ever spent! In a matter of days we eliminated a ton of brush and branches and were left with so much space to plant our desired fruit and nut trees, and a huge layer of mulch that really cleaned the whole appearance of the property up! We’re planting some seriously great trees, and this whole thing made it so much more possible! #propertymaintenance #propertyowner #landowner #hydroaxe #catequipment #landscaping #landclearing #catepillar
Let’s talk irrigation! What’s your go to method?! So many small parts used for adding drip lines to our garden. To be honest- that’s usually the worst part. Digging around in a bucket to find the piece you need. I pulled out the @flexpowertoolsna Stack Pack recently and organized every single piece- and it made the whole process move so much quicker! I have been a huge fan of their storage system- tons of accessories but the compartments and dividers make it so much easier to keep small pieces neat and tidy. Adding drip lines to these raised beds, as well as our berry rows and melons, so we’ve gone through a lot of parts! I’m super excited to install the @indeepirrigation root quenchers on our trees, it’s a whole new way to water! @flexpowertoolsna Stack Pack and Impact to install the brackets @dewalttough Cordless Heat Gun to slightly soften the Pipe for Barded connectors @keenutility Boots #jobsitestorage #irrigationinstallation #irrigationsystem #dripirrigation #dripline #homestead #gardenlove #betterhomesandgardens #hgtv #flextools #dewalttools @flexpowertools @dewalttough @crescent_tool
Don’t mess up, Whew- nailed it! Seriously, may have repeated that in my mind 8,000 times while drilling the holes into this counter for the faucet and drain. Seriously- y’all have been there, right?! I am using a special but from @diablo_tools - their Self Feeding bit. Ironically, these weren’t designed for carpentry really- more for installing conduit etc. They’re great there too- and I’ve used them a ton in the shop construction, but I find them much more multi-purpose than intended. Honestly when you’re cutting through hardwood like this oak- the chip removal on these is impressive and I think is a huge part of why they’re great in applications like this. Normally we think of Forstner bits or the like for fine finishes- but these are great too! @dewalttough Hammer Drill @kraususa Faucet and Sink #shop #renovation #drill #holes #install #faucetinstall #vanity #countertops #selffeedbits #dewalttools #diablotools @dewalttough @kraus_usa @diablotools
Plumbing and irrigation is honestly really fun. I mean, once you’ve dug the trenches and spent a small fortune on materials, I mean then it’s fun. 😂 Jokes aside- I ran about 300 feet of pipe to add water to our back property- not sure if y’all knew this, but it’s a lot of work! But dragging several hoses around wasn’t an option either. We added 3 Hose Bibs (faucets) to the space so water is always in close proximity, a lot of work- but well worth it! Used the new @kobalttools PVC cutter and I’ll be honest- this was a great addition to their lineup or cordless tools and it definitely made the install go quicker! #kobalttools #pvccutter #plumbing #irrigation #irrigationsystem #pvc #pex #plumbing #homeimprovement #propertyowners #homestead #texashomestead
Quickest flower bed you’ve ever seen! Ready- go! Back story- I had a bunch of composite decking left over from the huge front project I did on the front of our home that was collecting dust, and I hate waste! When we started planning the garden, I knew we would integrate this material in here somehow, and Berry rows became the obvious choice! We broke up the soil and added a ton of compost and organic material to augment our native clay based soil- and built the beds right in place. We needed these more for preventing run out of soil during our heavy Texas rains. and to create borders to retain water during dryer periods too. I attached the four corners with a handful of large screws and some @prowoodlumber 4X4 pressure treated lumber I had left over from another project. It’s garden safe- so always research that before you purchase! Manufacturers make a huge difference here! Found this audio on TikTok from Mr Wired Up- can we say 90s nostalgia?! Love his mashups, but couldn’t find his account here to tag! @flexpowertoolsna Impact @keenutility boots #planterbed #diyraisedbed #diygardenbed #easygardening #berrybeds #homesteadlife #homesteadprojects #gardenprojects
What was your first job ever? My answer may surprise you! I was always looking for ways to make money- my first official job was at Kroger- I was hired right at 15, and actually ended up meeting my husband there too! I was hired as a cashier but quickly moved over to floral and customer service, then accounting etc. I never really wasn’t working. Floral was cool because I learned a lot about basic design, how colors come together and how to blend heights and shapes. Honestly I feel like it was one of the most low stress jobs I ever had. Before that- I spent most every weekend babysitting and saved every penny I could to buy my first car, I started saving at like 12- but I was so motivated that nothing was going to stop me. I bought our neighbors, 1993 Toyota Celica with 200K miles on it- I loved that car! I also helped my dad mow our neighbors yard- she was an old lady and my dad hated that it was something to worry about, so I helped him mow it when we mowed ours and he would give me cash for it too. After Kroger, I worked at a shoe store in the mall, and was a manager of several apartment complexes- among other things over the years. It’s funny that every small bit of experience takes you into your next step and allows you to figure out what you really want. Shortly after I had kids I started woodworking and doing renovations, more and more, and all these years later, here I am! Spent some time planting flowers in the new planters for @prowoodlumber -y’all are going to love this whole build when you see it together! A few small notes about my process- I used a growbag to line the planter and to allow me to easily remove soil when needed, or if I plant any fruit, they allow me to easily remove them for freezes etc. I put a layer of sticks and leaf litter down and then add my mix or dirt and compost. The lavender was terribly root bound, so you’ll see me loosen that up too. Always be aware of this when planting store bought plants- it’s almost always a
Being a mom is my greatest adventure 🌺🌼 These two are my greatest achievement, my greatest motivation, my greatest loves, my greatest responsibility and my greatest joy! I’ve lost myself in being a mom many times, and I’ve found myself in being a mom that much more. For all the folks who take on the role of mom, support moms, empower moms, and celebrate moms- you are all amazing! And an extra cheers to the mamas who show their kids that they can do anything, be anything, achieve anything- and remind them that fitting in is over rated- standing out is where they’ll find their passion. ❤️ I would be remiss if I didn’t also say- that it’s so important to teach our babies to follow their passion - especially if they love a trade- society will tell them it’s not enough- but if being a backbone of society isn’t enough- well I don’t know what could be! #mothersdays #momsinthetrades #momsinbusiness #amamaswork #tradieladies #tradielady #femalecarpenter #futuretradie

Random flex, but are you even a woodworker if your hands aren’t dirty at all times? I know- why not just wear gloves? Easy- I want to FEEL the wood. It’s probably true for a lot of crafts- whether woodworking or painting, pottery etc. Plus- dirty hands mean this mama is working in the shop and happy making things happen! I’m going to be honest, I don’t go to the gym. I hate the whole gym vibe. 😂 is it just me?! My idea of lifting weights is 100% jointing large pieces of butcher block or something similar. Don’t underestimate it, white oak is no joke! If I need cardio, I’ll work in the yard or garden- and often just ride my bike to get some fresh air while I’m at it. My sweet little jointer was one of the biggest upgrades I made in the shop. I bought it used about 5 years ago- but it’s still going strong! @bora_tool Portable Base is a MUST!
