A message from our long-time label artist and Russian colleague SINE STEP.

As the Russian invasion of Ukraine intensifies, so does the restriction on free speech by the Russian government.

New laws are making it increasingly dangerous for the Russian people to publicly protest or even voice their opposition to the war online.

But their voice is still there.

Peace. Love. And glory to Ukraine 🇺🇦

"I am writing to you with such a request. As you know, I live in Russia and what is happening in our country right now, it's just terrible! We do not want war, we are for the Ukrainian people! Putin did everything to keep us silent, mass repressions began in the country and laws on military censorship were adopted. We cannot take to the streets and protest, we cannot now notify information about the war in social networks. My request is to tell about this to as large an audience of people as possible. The war hit me very hard, I lost my job, my studio will go through bad times, now I will survive here, not live! I ask you to spread this information, we are ordinary people against all this that Putin is doing.

Astronata have been one of the most amazing artists we've worked with at Slime. It's been our pleasure to work with Nata & Ilya over the past few years and experience their incredible music.

This week they were driven out of their home city in Ukraine as Russian forces continue to bombard the city with artillery and planes indiscriminately. They are safe now and we are keeping in touch, but it has been a tough ordeal for them and many millions more in their country.

It may not seem like much, but go give them a listen on Spotify or throw them in a couple of your playlists. Their music is sensational and Nata's voice is sublime. She even represented Ukraine at Eurovision.

They are also on our Bandcamp if you are feeling generous, we will make sure they get it asap.

A big thank you to everybody who has supported Slime and its subsidiary labels this year. 2021 has been a tough time for everyone, and it's been very hard to maintain positivity at times. But music is a hugely important element in improving your mental health and we hope you found some joy in it this year, whether it be through us or elsewhere. Here's to better times in 2022 x
