The University of York Presents: Tartuffe by Molière After the sell out success of Punk Rock and Motortown, TFTV is back with Early Modern comedy at its Tartuffe is one of Molière’s most famous comedies.

Banned for five years after it was first performed, it is a play where deception, seduction, and obsession converge, with hilarious effect. Tartuffe is invited to live with a wealthy household and, under the guise of extreme religious devotion, spreads distrust and dissention through the family while trying to bed the lady of the house. This pits Tartuffe against the combined wits of the household

– apart from, of course, the head of the household, who is deeply under his spell. Traps are set and shenanigans ensue. Performances of Tartuffe will be held on the 7th and 8th of March at 7.30pm and 2.30pm respectively. Tickets can be bought at http://store.york.ac.uk/browse/extra_info.asp?compid=1&modid=1&deptid=160&catid=330&prodvarid=47 . £5 for students and £8 for all others.
