10/04/2024

If you have ever found yourself asking the question "will I get through this?" know you are not alone. We dive deep into the doubts of parenthood in this episode and how we all are searching for validation that we are not alone and we will make it through this journey on the other side.

No matter where you find yourself today, whether in single motherhood like Kaitlyn or in your own valley, know this... IT IS GOING TO BE OK AND YOU ARE GOING TO BE OK.

✨If you have ever come out on the other side and have encouragement for the mom that is still in the trenches, would you leave an encouraging comment below? Let's fill the comment section with affirmations for whoever may land here. Because we know when we are really in it, sometimes all we need to hear is that we will ultimately be ok and that we are not alone.✨

Kaitlyn came with a WORD for every mom out there. I think universally, us mom's struggle with being the "perfect parent" especially in a world saturated by social media and unrealistic expectations. I love how she reminds us how to just show up the best we can on the hard days and to stop focusing on the invisible expectations of motherhood.

It's a tough reminder when you feel like a failure for feeding your kiddos yet another boxed dinner or a few more episodes of their favorite show, but sometimes we need to take the pressure off and truly find peace in the hills and valleys of parenting.

And in case no one has told you yet today, YOU ARE ENOUGH (and we think you're the perfect parent for your kiddos 👊🏼)

If divorce has ever affected your life, you're going to love this week's episode with .kaitlyn. 🤍

Kaitlyn Niles brings us deep into the realities of motherhood and speaks honestly around the hard stuff - including navigating single motherhood.

We dig into a lot in this episode but here's a glimpse...
✨ How divorce has impacted both of our lives
✨ Transitioning from a two-parent household to a single parent household
✨ Her experience with co-parenting
✨ Setting boundaries with sharing her reality and supporting her kids
✨ How being a child of divorce has shaped how she's handled her own

Whether you've directly been impacted by divorce or not, this episode is worth the listen. Kaitlyn's vulnerability to share where most people wouldn't go reminds us that we truly are all in this together.

This week, I'm so excited for you to tune in to my conversation with Amy Kiefer!

Amy Kiefer is a RN-BSN, NSCA-CPT, Certified Doula and co-founder of Expecting and Empowered. After starting her personal training career working with pregnant clients, she realized there were far too many misconceptions still floating around. She is on a mission to bring clarity to all things pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. She is also a mom to 3 little ones who have blessed her with the ability to marry education and personal experience.

While we've spent a lot of time talking about the mental and emotional aspects of motherhood on this podcast, I wanted to really dive into the physical demands of both pregnancy and postpartum - enter ➡️ Amy.

In this episode we get into it all:
✨the physical challenges and changes of pregnancy and postpartum
✨a deep dive into pelvic floor and resources to assist our bodies
✨our own experiences with healing postpartum
✨an honest conversation about ego and healing
✨the importance of educating our partners
✨support for wanting a good s*x life after baby (yep, we go there)

We also chat about:
✨how having a colicky baby and the decision to have a second child
✨the difficulties of not living by family
✨an unexpected grieving process
✨our own experience with the challenges of the transition to two kids

We prepare so much for baby, why aren't we talking more about the transition into motherhood? Well, mamas, tomorrow we're diving in with Jess Hull of .io. ✨

Jess Hull is a former Facebook and Google executive who founded Mother Me, which is an app, online course, and support framework for successful women who want to do more than just survive their postpartum. The system she developed is called The Mother Me Method and it's based on the science and data of Matrescence as well as incorporating global perspectives on how other countries and cultures support postpartum women.

Jess approaches her work more from an academic standpoint vs. a clinical perspective. She has done extensive research on matrescence and maternal health and seeks practical solutions that can help busy women. Known for her enthusiasm, humor and compelling speaking, Jess resonates with so many women because she combines her passion for sharing a data driven approach with her personal experiences and her ability to relate to the universal challenges and joys of motherhood.

In her research and in her experience, Jess often felt that moms and their wellbeing were an afterthought. It's what motivated her to start her company and name it Mother Me - as a call to action to recognize that moms need and deserve the same love and care we so instinctually give to our newborns.

This one's for the working mamas. ✨ Tomorrow's episode I sit down with my dear friend Brittany from Unlock Her Co. to chat all things working mom - from managing mom guilt, to finding clarity, acceptance, and confidence in that "working mom" label.

Whether you're a working mom or stay-at-home mom (by choice or necessity), Brittany inspires us to look inward and define our version of a purposeful life.

Brittany is a mom of 2 littles raising them alongside her husband in a northwest suburb of Minneapolis. She is a lover of Jesus, black coffee and deep conversations. Who lives for her morning rhythms before the family is up.

In the midst of the beautiful chaos of motherhood, Brittany, after climbing the corporate ladder for over a decade, is now living out her passion and purpose as the founder & CEO of Unlock Her Co., a transformative coaching brand that creates trusted spaces for high-achieving women and female entrepreneurs to feel seen, heard and empowered to prioritize her well-being and unlock her version of a purposeful life.

I loved our vulnerable chat, turned inspiring conversation. I hope no matter what season or journey you're on, you find moments in the episode that resonate. 🤍

In honor of this week's episode surrounding , I'm sharing a post I shared back in 2020 when I was going through my own recurrent loss journey...

Why does nobody prepare you for this? Why are we still making miscarriage a silent struggle? I refuse to let that go unanswered.

Why do I share this? Because I wish I would have known. I wish someone would have been there to tell me what I was experiencing was real and what I was feeling was valid.

In my countless hours of searches, none of the above were results.

If this reaches just one woman who is experiencing the same heartbreak, to let her know that her emotions are valid and her story is important, that's one less woman who has to feel alone in her grief tonight. 🤍

If you're looking for a place to feel heard and seen, listen to Episode 9 of Moms of the Night Podcast with Arden from The Miscarriage Doula, wherever you listen to podcasts.

Reviews like this take me back to the very reason I started this sacred space for us.

To speak the words when you don't have them.

To sit in solidarity when the loneliness creeps in.

To feel heard, seen, and validated.

To share the stories of moms.

This is for us. Thank you for being here. 🤍

This week's episode comes with a trigger warning: miscarriage.

On Thursday you'll get to listen in on a very vulnerable conversation I had with Arden from The Miscarriage Doula. Arden and I talk about how we first met, when I was experiencing , and have some really important, impactful discussions around miscarriage, what it was like for both of us, the kind of support we had, and how we're processing it years later, now with earthside babies in our arms.

Although I'd never wish to be connected to women in this way, the loss community is one I've found so much strength and comfort in. Whether you've walked through or not, I encourage you to listen in to get insight in to how to support those in your life who are/have.

Sending love to all of you who have experienced miscarriage and/or are waiting for the day you have an earthside baby in your arms. We know you; we see you. 🤍

Listen to episode 9 with Arden this Thursday!

In this week's episode, my friend Samantha Hall and I break down the expectations of motherhood and discuss how they can make for an isolating and frustrating reality. We often see the "ideal mother" being described as selfless, which can strip us of any identity outside of motherhood and hold us back from showing up for our families in the best way we can.

Sam Hall is the creator of the Welcome Mama Journal and Day Planner, a matrescence educator, podcast host, and a student of motherhood studies. Her mission to create products and content that help moms take care of themselves, help moms be seen, and help moms enjoy, embrace, and capture the fleeting experience of motherhood grew from her own experience of struggling to "do it all" and still be present for her now two-and-a-half-year-old, Teddy.

By reflecting on our own experiences, we discuss the pressure to be selfless mamas, and how we can push back against expectations—whether they be society's or our own.

Episode 7 is available tomorrow, wherever you listen to podcasts {link in bio}.

I'm so excited for Leighton to join me on this week's episode of Moms of the Night Podcast ✨

Leighton Keen is a mama currently parenting two 2 and under. She feels like she gets the best of both worlds to be a part time stay at home mom and a part time licensed marriage and family therapist. Her journey with recurrent pregnancy loss led her to specialize in reproductive and maternal mental health to support women walking through their own losses, infertility, challenges during pregnancy postpartum, birth trauma, or those becoming parents by way of adoption. Not a typical thing she shares publicly but relevant for today’s conversation, Leighton had a breast reduction prior to her pregnancies and it consequently had an effect on her feeding journeys with both of her daughters.

I can't wait for you to hear our conversation about feeding struggles, grieving what we thought feeding our babies would look like, and deciding to wean.
