Response time of DumboRC DDF-350 VS other entry-level transmitters and multiprotocol.
Multiprotocol adds a bit of delay to Radiolink protocol even in serial mode. Sometimes the delay is noticeable too.

Banggood sent me these for reviews but I was busy so while I'm working on the videos now, here are short reviews.
I also include the links out of obligation.
1. LDRC 1802
Basically a cheap kit car disguised as a RTR. The body looks really good with working popup headlights mechanism. Steering angle is enough for RWD drift. The problem is at the gyro. It works in step so it's either too much or too little.
The chassis itself has good potential. It just needs a better gyro. Personally I think this is better than trying to convert WLtoys K989/K969 to RWD drift.

2. DumboRC DDF-350
The plastic wheel version is the best budget radio with user friendly interface. Couple with the micro receiver (no gyro version) and it's just 54 Euros. Absolute bargain! It can save up to 10 memories and it supports up to 3S lipo battery.
Performance is on par with Radiolink. It's not as fast as Flysky G7P so if you look for a faster connection, get the G7P.
The metal wheel feels more like a gimmick. I don't even feel if it has better grip than a plastic wheel. It just looks nicer.
Spending more to get the metal wheel feels like a waste but you do you. I'd rather spend that extra bit to get a better transmitter, namely Flysky G7P.

3. ZLL SG116 PRO/MAX
No! Just No! The only thing is has going for is the 12mm wheel hex. The shocks are friction shocks and but they are soft so at least it's not the worst.
Otherwise at this price point Wltoys 144010 is better in every way. The size is not that much smaller than WLtoys too.
With WLtoys you'll also have a proper Lipo with better punch.

I got it! This is the ELRS version too!
I thought I was familiar with EdgeTX (TX16S with touch screen) but this version takes a while to figure out.
The 2 boxes on the screen are the throttle and steering indicators. They look cute but not useful especially with this screen refresh rate.
It comes out of the box with 50Hz data rate so it takes a very long time to connect to the receiver. This is adjustable... but there's noone mentioning it. Put it to 1000Mhz so you have the fastest connection and lowest latency. You will loose a bit of range but you won't be using all of it anyway.
Out of the box, CH1 is throttle and CH2 is steering. Again, noone mentioned it. This is not a problem though. You just need to either plug the components into different ports or change the output in the EdgeTX operating system.
All in all, I'm still learning how to do things with it.

For the first time in ground vehicles, there are 3 manuals for a single transmitter.
First, you need a manual for the transmitter unit to customize the parts or put a new module in.
Then a manual for EdgeTX https://edgetx.org/
And finally a manual for the ELRS https://www.expresslrs.org/ or Multiprotocol https://github.com/pascallanger/DIY-Multiprotocol-TX-Module depending on the version you choose.
If you think this sounds like a hassle. You are absolutely right!

For under 189 USD, it is the best. Otherwise just get a Flysky Noble NB4 if you want something that's ready to use with just turning it on then click a few buttons.

This is the most scientific way to test the latency.
Massive props to Jacob Scherer.
I've found the PWM receiver problem before. It will get programmable servo into programming mode. But this is the first time I see it on oscilloscope and it's alarming.
Getting the ELRS version might not be the best idea after all. Despite having great latency that problem is a no-go for drifters for sure.

Radiomaster MT12 is now available on Banggood with discount (flash deal so it's ~18 Euros cheaper than normal).
Choose LBT if you are in Europe and FCC for anywhere else.
As for the transmission system, if you will mainly use it with Mini-Z, old Flysky (AFHDS, AFHDS2A) and Radiolink then get the 4-in-1. If you just want a transmitter and update your fleet then get the ELRS because it has (or rather advertised that it has) very low latency pretty much rivals Flysky NB4.
You can install other modules to it so even if you get the 4-in1 now and want to upgrade to ELRS later or vise versa, you can.

I'm not sure how well the EdgeTX works with cars for this transmitter. But from my experience with TX16S it is decent but still more complicated than it should be and still does not offer the lap timer which is a crucial function for touring. Or maybe it was too complicated for me that I couldn't find it.
Latency wise, it depends on the receiver you use. Flysky AFHDS as a protocol was already slow and inconsistent so it's not a good measurement. Radiolink feels a bit slower than native RC4GS but I haven't done a proper test yet.
By the way their version of Futaba S-FHSS is for air receiver, not for surface. I have a mini S-FHSS receiver and it doesn't work with multiprotocol. Same story with DSM2, DSMX. Air and surface are not the same.

While I’m still not available to make a video I still want to put this out there.
This is JSK1. It’s a light kit with 8 LEDs and controller. It has 2 parts that connect together with magnet clip. So, you can separate the body completely from the chassis which is very convenient. The lights are 3mm LED.
The light functions are low beam, hi-beam, brake light and backfire (put the yellow lights in the exhaust pipes). Of course, it intercepts the throttle and also needs another auxiliary channel as switch mode to change the functions.

I still can’t test this at the moment but it’s a really cool product. I’ll find a car that can utilize all the functions and show you whenever I can.

Mini-Z MR-04 EVO2 is coming!
The front kingpins have been flipped from the factory.
It also supports sensored brushless motor.
The chassis has been re-designed. Basically they tweaked it here and there to have lower scrub radius, lower centre of gravity and a small cut-in area so the IC tag (for timing) fits better. I've never seen anyone uses the Kyosho timekeeping system but it's there anyway.
