Was it worth the money?! You bet it was 🙌🏻
📍9 DAY WASHINGTON ITINERARY DETAILS
• DATES: September 8-16 (9 days)
• WHERE: Olympic Peninsula (4 days), Mount Rainier (4 days), driving between the two (1 day)
• MONEY SAVING TIPS: Avoid visiting during the summer will help with costs (and crowds 😉), camping can be cheaper if you opt to find free campgrounds using apps like @campendium or @freeroamhq, you can go for a cheaper rental (we needed a larger vehicle for our camping gear), and of course limiting your alcohol will always help with your bill ✌🏻
Have you been to Washington?!?

ONE OF THE BEST HIKES IN WASHINGTON 👇🏻
🌄 High Rock Lookout Trail (SAVE FOR LATER!)
📍Located in Ashford, WA an hour outside of MRNP
🥾 3.2 mile trail with insane views of Mount Rainier!
🙌🏻 Perfect for sunrise or sunset, and way less crowded than hiking trails in Mount Rainier National Park.
We were two or six people here for sunset and it was spectacular! Plus, since you’re not in the National Park, you can fly your drone to get amazing aerial footage of Mount Rainier and the surrounding mountains and forests!

Grandpas should never die. They’re a special bunch of people and my grandpa was among the very best of them ❤️
It may not be The Alps, but I sure hope he enjoyed this view as much as I did. Actually, I know he did ☺️
Miss you tremendously, Ota ❤️

Even a rainy day in the backcountry is a good day ✌🏻
💡SHELTER/COMFORT RECOMMENDATIONS
⛺️ TENT: A durable tent that can protect you and your gear from the elements is essential! We use @marmot Limelight 3P Tent and love it! We opted for a 3 person tent to accommodate our gear and of course Huey! We love the extra room it gives us while still being lightweight and a smaller footprint.
🛏️ SLEEPING PADS: You gotta stay dry, comfortable, and warm when camping right? We use @bigagnes_ sleeping pads to get ourselves off the hard ground to get a good night sleep.
💤SLEEPING BAGS: Investing in a good sleeping bag is essential. It’s your last line of defense against the cold! Even in the summer, camping at high altitudes can get to freezing if not below freezing temps. Never underestimate Mother Nature! We’re actually in the market for new sleeping bags (ours our well worn) and looking at @rei Down Time 25 Down Sleeping Bag!
🥱PILLOW: if you’re a light packer, you can get away without a pillow if you have a comfy sleeping pad. Make sure whatever pillow you get it’s durable and packs small. Our go to camping pillow is @seatosummit Aeros Premium Pillow!
The above gear list is the makings of a cozy morning in the back country that’ll keep you warm, safe, and dry! Happy camping all 🙌🏻

Here’s to L.I.V.I.N - Living ✌🏻
Would you hike to an active Volcano?!? (SAVE FOR PLANNING!)
🇬🇹WHERE: El Fuego is an active Volcano located near Antigua, Guatemala about an hours drive away.
⏰ WHEN TO GO: While no one can promise clear skies and volcanic eruptions, the best time to do this hike is from December to March.
🌋HIKE STATS: This hike is a DOOZY! But SO WORTH IT! You can combine this hike (called double whammy) with summiting Acatenango for sunrise (3rd tallest peak in Central America) or opt to just do Fuego as a day hike or overnight hike (we highly recommend the overnight hike!). Just hiking to El Fuego Ridge, you’ll gain around 3,800 ft of elevation over the course of about 6 miles (one way) until you reach the the ridge line where you’ll watch El Fuego erupt from 11,811 ft.
🙌🏻 TOUR COMPANY: We went with @oxexpeditions and we cannot RECOMMEND them enough! They provide food, safety, accommodations, amazing friendly and knowledgeable guides, and any gear rental you may need to conquer El Fuego or Acatenango! Miguel and his team are beastly champs!
🥾GEAR: It’s COLD up top! So please pack accordingly. A solid base layer (not cotton, water/sweat wicking materials), fleece, jacket, hat, gloves, hiking boots, hiking socks, 35 - 45 liter backpack, leggings/hiking pants, sunglasses, buff, sunscreen, chapstick, headlamp. While a tour company can provide you gear, it’s best to use your gear when you can and rent the rest.
❤️ This hike will forever be a CORE MEMORY and one of our favorites to date! Seeing hot lava erupt from 500 meters away, Acatenango and Volcan De Agua are in your peripherals was just an UNREAL experience.
In case no one told you, the big and bold moments are great, but it’s all about those small little moments ❤️
