Our second travel guide for May is now live!

We fell behind this month on keeping up with work and our travel guides. Lauren's grandfather has been in poor health and sadly passed away last week.

We're craving a little normalcy, and to distract ourselves, so while we're still coping, it felt good to write.

As always, if you like what you read, share our guides with your family and friends.

Thanks for being here!

Can you believe this is ARGENTINA?!?

This isn’t the U.S. Southwest, but Northern Argentina! While loads of people flock to Patagonia or to setoff for an Antarctica cruise, people often lose sight that Argentina has SO MUCH diversity and other amazing places to explore!

We spent a month exploring the northern regions of the country and places like this rendered us speechless.

After spending 3 days in Cafayate, we packed up the rental car and drove 6.5 hours north!

With the province of Salta in our rear view, we arrived into the province a Jujuy to a little mountain town of Humahuaca.

Sitting at just under 10,000 ft in elevation and about 2 hours south of the Bolivia border, Humahuaca was a wonderful reprieve.

Mountain views, cobblestone streets, tasty empanadas, and a laid back atmosphere we were craving.

We spent three days exploring the area. From hiking, to strolls through the square, and amazing nights full of dancing and Pena music, Humahuaca may just be our favorite town of the trip.

That rainbow mountain sure helped its ranking 😉

Buenos Dias! We are waiting in the airport to board a plane to our next location in Argentina and we wanted to get you up to speed! It’s hard to believe we only have 8 days of our month left.

The last photo series post was about Mendoza, but after Mendoza, we boarded a plane and headed north, up to Salta.

Salta, is not only a town, but a region.

We rented a car and headed three hours south from the city proper of Salta, with our eyes set on Cafayate, a small town with mountains, wineries, and a whole lot of southwest U.S. vibes!

We spent three days in Cafayate and WE LOVED IT!

🚗 We drove along the scenic Ruta 68, had wonderful wine tastings at two vineyard’s (this regions is the second largest producing wine region after Mendoza) 🍷, enjoyed the small town square🚶🏼‍♀️ , and watched a beautiful sunrise from some sand dunes 🌅

While we enjoyed our time in Buenos Aires and Mendoza, we really enjoyed getting out of the chaos of the city and into the mountains. And not to mention, really getting into the laid back life Cafayete brought!

How was everyone’s weekend?! If you’ve been following along in our stories, you’ll know we spent the weekend in Uco Valley, the famous Malbec wine growing region in Argentina!

From winery tours to tastings, to tasty food, and unbelievable views of the Andes Mountains, Mendoza is equally as beautiful as it is delicious.

Oh, and Jesse’s mom has joined us for a week! We love when family and friends accompany us on our adventures.

Our greatest joy is to share our passions with the people we love.

Chasing waterfalls in Washington ✌🏻

Olympic National Park is one of the most diverse parks we’ve explored! From beaches to mountains and lush rainforests, it sure didn’t surprise us that this peninsula also has waterfalls!

• 90 ft high
• 1.7 miles (round trip)
• Located near Crescent Lake and Mount Storm King Trail, which are also great sights to see in Olympic!

📍SOL DOC FALLS
• 48 ft tall
• 1.6 miles (round trip)
• Located in the HOH rainforest, and the HOH is a must!!

Hi, there 👋🏻 We’re Lauren & Jesse Stuart! We figured we’d do a little reintroduction. It’s been while! 👇🏻

📍We both we’re born, raised, and currently live in St. Louis, MO

🐶 We have a scruffy mutt named Huey who we adopted in 2021 and yes, he’s probably the only kid we’ll have (probably)

❤️ We LOVE being outside. From hiking and scuba diving, to bike rides and just drinking a spritz on a patio with friends, outside is our happy place

📸 We started this account in 2017 when we quit our jobs and backpacked through 9 countries in South East Asia and have been photographing and creating travel guides on our blog ever since!

🖥️ Content creation is not our full time job. We own a rental property, Lauren works for an advertising agency, and Jesse is a co-owner of food manufacturing company

🫶🏻 We started dating in college (FRAT LIFE) and have been together ever since, officially getting married in 2016

⁉️We each have tattoos (Lauren 3, Jesse 2), we prodominantly eat a pescatarian diet, we own a 19 ft camper, we love a good Netflix binger, and live music

Just wanted to say a BIG WELCOME and thanks so much for being here! What else do you want to know about us?!

Happy Sunday! One of our focuses for this year has been reevaluating older blog posts and updating them.

It’s been an undertaking but one we’ve really enjoyed! Reliving past trips has been fun and makes us realize how special the places we’ve visited really are…and maybe a reminder that we need to go back 🙃

We are so happy to announce that all 12 of our travel guides on Morocco are updated and seriously better than ever!!

So if you’re planning a trip or know someone who may be planning a visit to Morocco, you’ll definitely want to give our guides a read 🙌🏻

mornings in the mountains ✌🏻

it’s quiet. calm. and there is something indescribable to watch the world as it wakes

📍 Hurricane Ridge, Olympic

TIPS FOR VISITING:
⏰Get here early! The parking lot will be completely full by 8:00am. And it’s one in one out from there.

👟The hiking trail is accessible (paved) for those who need assistance

⁉️ Located within Olympic National Park, it’ll cost you $30 (good for 7 consecutive days) to access the trailhead. And your entrance fee allows you to visit other areas of Olympic NP! If you have a Annual National Park Pass, it’s free!

🥾You don’t have to hike the 3.4 miles to get amazing views. You’ll have exceptional views from the start of the trail (pictures in the set are 10 minutes into the hike!)

☀️The trail ends at Hurricane Hill, one of the best places to see sunrise in Olympic and on a clear day, you can see Canada!

Did you know Washington has a rainforest?!?

📍The HOH Rainforest lives within the majestic and wildly diverse Olympic National Park

🌲 Home to lush enchanting canopies of mossy trees and ferns, visiting the HOH will make you feel like you’re walking in a Disney fairytale.

🗓️WHEN TO GO
This is a place where the rain actually makes it better! The rainy season for the HOH is winter. However, if you’re looking to avoid the rain as your exploring other places in Washington, the summer is it! July through mid-September is perfect.

⁉️ HOW MANY DAYS
The HOH rainforest is within Olympic National Park and Olympic National Park is massive! If you only want to visit HOH, one day is totally fine. However, if you want to explore other sections of Olympic, you’ll need 3 days minimum.

🥾WHAT TO DO
The best way to explore the HOH is to walk. There are two top trails that visitors should do

• Hall of Mosses: 1.1 mile loop
• Spruce Nature: 1.4 mile loop

Both will weave you past springs and giant mossy trees and meadows full of ferns. It’s magical.

Have you been to the HOH?!

We are ending our time in Olympic National Park with a beach camp while getting to experience that traditional PNW weather!

Cold, wet, and sandy but what a fun night on the beach!

TIP: camping on the beaches in Olympic requires a backcountry permit which you can reserve and buy on recreation.gov. Oh, and bear canisters for food and scented item storage is a must!

A few photos from the lush rainforests of Olympic Peninsula.

We spent out first day exploring the HOH Rainforest and it was like walking in a fairytale forest.

When planning your trip to Olympic, at a minimum you should plan for three days here. One for each section of the park - mountains, rainforest, coastlines.

Let’s talk camping etiquette 🏕️

1) Always leave no trace! Essentially, leave your site better than you found it.
2) If you have neighbors, respect their space and quiet hours.
3) Don’t walk through other peoples campsite. It’s just weird.
4) Always make sure you properly extinguish your fires.
5) If your backcountry camping, please camp at least 200ft from water
6) Respect wildlife…meaning stay away!
7) Be bear aware! If camping in bear country properly stow away any scented items and food

🥾Just remember, you’re not the only one enjoying this world of ours. Be respectful so the next generations get to enjoy our planet as much as you did ✌🏻

Our Story

We’re Lauren & Jesse Stuart aka The Stus from The Wandering Stus!

We’re a travel couple who quit our jobs in 2017 to traverse the countries of Southeast Asia and Nepal.

Since then, we’ve seen more places and had more experiences! We’ve backpacked across, over and through it all. We’re here to bring you travel tips, epic itineraries and your everyday “how to’s” to help you plan your biggest or smallest adventures, regardless of where you roam.

Our goal is simple. To show you how wonderfully amazing travel is and to inspire you to go to those faraway places you’ve been dreaming of.
