My favorite elk photo so far this fall. I was hiking through the river bed and heard the bugling so I headed in the direction came around a corner and saw two huge bulls. They were thrashing in the willows and running through the river. I love the unexpected moments of wildlife photography.
Yesterday 610 was hit by a car. The car did not stop or report it. I am out everyday in the park and see people all day speeding through and passing people. Each area of the park has wildlife that crosses the road. There are black bear zones, grizzly zones, elk crossing, moose crossings and so on. What you may think looks like open road in a national park is really the home of these animals and crossing roads is how they move through the park.
Last week at a bear jam for Blondie a tourist actually told a ranger he didn’t have time to sit in a bear jam he had to get to dinner. Why vacation in a national park with wildlife and nature if you are going to be so selfish. National parks are full of wildlife and natural beauty that are meant to enjoyed and cherished not sped through with city life agendas.
SLOW DOWN AND RESPECT SOMETHING BIGGER THAN YOURSELF.
There are many nights on my way home from the park I catch awesome landscape moments. Who doesn’t love a good sunburst with the Tetons!
This time of year in the Tetons the bull moose are chasing the females. You will find a bull with a cow almost anywhere right now and sometimes with a cow and calf. If the cow walks he walks, if she beds down he beds down. The cow is only “in the mood” for 1-36 hours so he is right there making sure he doesn’t miss it🤣🤣

My favorite bear…. The first Grizzly I ever photographed. I haven’t seen her since June 10th 2022 when she lost her three cubs.

My favorite photo from my otter experience Sunday night. Otters in the snow are my favorite because how well they show up on a white background. Otters on a brown riverbank are my least favorite for obviously brown reasons. I was loving otters in green what do you think???

Walking in the woods and found this beautiful lady…. When I’m not doing tours and workshops I love to get out and walk all over looking for wildlife. I love the quiet moments.
It’s all things with antlers season….. let the bugling, fighting, and harem forming begin.
THE CUTEST CUB EVER! This little guy was eating berries in the woods with its mom on Monday and I’m pretty sure I have never seen a more adorable bear. The ears are chocolate brown and big, it’s coat was milk chocolate, and it’s face is so sweet and round. Have you ever seen a cuter bear?

I could watch bears eat berries all day. I love how they climb up a bush and eat as the branch slowly folds with their weight taking them for a ride, how they gobble the berries up so fast, and how focused they are. Nikon Z8 400 f4.5 S
This Yellowstone boar was on the move one evening last week it was so fun and unexpected to find him. I love the light and the look in his eye.

A little Saturday cuteness for ya! Watching and photographing fox kits was a highlight this Spring!
I think it’s my favorite photo of a bear I have ever taken…… Jam, Yellowstone Grizzly, Nikon Z8 Nikkor Z 400mm 4.5, and the perfect summer evening light.
Meet Snow~ she is an eight year old grizzly bear who lives in Yellowstone National Park. She is a first time mom this year with two cubs. Her mom, Raspberry is a well known Yellowstone bear as well. We have been lucky to see her and the cubs many times this year including today!
A little Thursday cuteness for you….. found this little one, mom, and sibling in Yellowstone two weeks ago and I can’t believe how cute it is! Spring bears were amazing this year.
Meet Jam….. she is a 3.5 year old Yellowstone grizzly that I have been photographing for a few years. Jam was just sent out into the wild on her own. An extra fun fact is her Mom, Raspberry keeps her cubs for an extra year so Jam is 3.5 instead of 2.5 like most grizzly sub adults. Jam is navigating the wilds of Yellowstone, she has stayed in the area where she was with her mom and has been very fun for me to watch over the last few weeks. Jam is also an excellent log walker😉
I spent five peaceful hours by myself waiting for this moment and it was everything I had hoped for….. thank you coyote pups for making this wildlife photographer absolutely stoked.
I finally had several hours with 399 and this little one and it was an incredible morning. She has popped up here and there but for the most part has been challenging to get good photos. Hundreds of photos with heat waves that I don’t even edit. Finally a great morning, she was pretty close and I had awesome clients that were able to get great photos as well.

49 years around the sun today….yikes. I’m not sure how it went so fast I still feel like I’m in my thirties except for those aches and pains, wrinkles, and saggy spots🤣
It’s an extra good day to take a minute and to be thankful for my health, my awesome teenagers, someone that loves me even before I’ve had my coffee, and my good friends and family. I’m spending a few days in my favorite place Park City with my kiddos and I couldn’t be happier. I’m going to make the most of this last year in my forties🤣
Some days you just need to hold on….
One question I get asked a lot out on tours is do I spend time hiking and in the woods looking for wildlife…. The answer is yes! I love finding wildlife with no one else around, sitting in the woods watching, waiting, and learning more about the animals I photograph. I sat in the woods for a couple of days watching fox kits and this little guy stole the show with his color. It was so awesome to find black fox kits!!! There are a lot more adorable photos coming.
More cuteness than I could take!! These two black bear cubs and their cinnamon mama made my day a few weeks ago. They were the smallest cubs I have seen yet and I love that they are two different colors. We got to watch them play, climb trees, and even take a bath in a little pond. I’m posting that as a reel!
I was with a client on this day and we set a record of a 16 bear day!
I have had the pleasure of watching this black bear mama with her 2 cubs for the last year. She has done an amazing job keeping them safe so far. She trees her cubs are the first sign of danger and has fought off several males that just won’t leave her alone. A ranger told me a story of a male climbing a tree after her and she came half way down and fought him off from in a tree. Reels of the cubs coming….
399 has become the oldest bear on record in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem to have cubs. This past Tuesday she came out with this one little cutie. I hope we get the pleasure of watching this little one grow over the next two years.
