Israel kills a child in Gaza every 45 minutes, and since Israel began its brutal war against the people of Gaza 20 months ago, more than 50,000 innocent children have been killed or injured, according to UNICEF. Israeli’s war has destroyed their homes, schools and healthcare facilities. The children of Gaza are being deprived of the joys of childhood and healthy, safe lives by Israel’s genocidal war.

We call on young people of all ages, caregivers, and educators to come together on June 21 at 10 a.m. in Chimborazo Park in solidarity with the children of Gaza. May our voices ring loud and clear until the people of Palestine are free!

We’ll be gathering in Chimborazo Park this Saturday, June 21, at 10 a.m. for a SAFE action to speak out for an end to the genocide in Gaza!
🇵🇸 10 a.m.: Art build for Gaza! We’ll have kites, wings and other for kids to decorate along with other activities
🇵🇸 10:30 a.m.: Brief rally and participatory theater experience with All the Saints Theater
🇵🇸 11 a.m.: March around Chimborazo Park using the park’s paved paths

Once a long time ago when we were about to bomb Iraq, a very sweet and very annoying white American guy from New Hampshire or whatever, spent a whole night while I was on vacation in Spain trying to hit on me/get me interested in his opinion of who we should or shouldn’t bomb.

I was much more interested in doing shots and thus was largely successful at ignoring him until the very last minutes of the night, which entailed a literal hike up a steep mountain in order to climb into our separate single beds at the glorious cheap hostel we were all staying in overlooking Alhambra.

Finally fed up and just really tired, I whipped around at the last few steps and smiled and asked: “Could you please with your hands show me how big Iraq and Iran are?”

At which point he proceeded to clumsily and erroneously explain that they’re about the same size.

Wrong. One is much larger than the other, one has a well-trained and equipped army whereas the other does not, and one has an entire squadron of elite women ninjas and we do not even have that.

Maybe this is dating advice. Maybe it is political. Either way, I would both highly recommend sleeping on it and knowing the size of country you’re considering bombing.

Gaza is facing a total blackout. The last fiber line was destroyed this week, and existing mobile networks are barely functioning. Aid workers, doctors, and civilians are cut off from the outside world-and from each other.

As connectivity collapses, requests for foreign eSIMs have surged. These are now one of the only remaining ways to support emergency services, education, rescue efforts, and basic communication.

watermelonwarriors.io is a Palestinian-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization distributing eSIMs directly to those affected.

Hibr is a Palestinian created and run volunteer-based international tattoo fundraiser, donating 100% of proceeds to Palestinians impacted by the ongoing genocide since May 4th, 2024.

Our orgs partner with small local organizations and community members on the ground in Gaza that are providing community-wide life sustaining initiatives such as food, water, medical care, and so much more.

One of our partner organizations is watermelon relief, who has worked tirelessly on the ground to provide aid and distribute eSIMs.

What to do if someone does something you don’t like:

1. MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS
We’re all here for the same cause. There is no legal requirement to alert police to potentially illegal activity.

2. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE
If someone’s behavior raises your risk level beyond what you’re comfortable with, leave the situation and head to a safer space.

3. ASK FOR SUPPORT
If someone’s behavior raises your risk level and your unable to leave, ask for support from the people around you or see if the person is able to accomodate your needs.

4. RESPECT DIVERSITY OF TACTICS
Engage with curiosity about people who do things differently from you. What motivates them to be courageous in the face of police violence?

5. KEEP COMRADES INVISIBLE
If someone needs to blend into the crowd quickly, help them. Learn about de-arresting and support people who are being targeted.
