CNHS Performance at Balacat Festival 2023 moves crowd

Camachiles National High School (CNHS) dancers sway in coordination during The Balacat Festival 2023 – watching the crowds go wild with their Pinatubo Performance, everything tunes out except for the beating of their hearts, a fulfilling experience. Together, on Friday March 3, they danced.

Group 2 dancers of the “Mabalacat and the Pinatubo in the backyard” shared an unforgettable moment. Performing together the history of Mabalacat – the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo happens once again in the form of a dance performance.

"It is all about a re-enactment of the Pinatubo eruption back in 1991. Para balikan kung anong nangyari sa eruption lalo na sa mga kabataan na hindi pa pinapanganak nung year na yun." said Mary Rose Tayag, head choreographer for CNHS Group 2.

From the dancers’ point of view, Mitch Fiona Nadonga – a Grade 10 CNHS Pinatubo dancer expressed, “I would like to thank the teachers, choreographers and my fellow dancers for making our performance possible. Everyone really helped lighten up each others’ mood and without each other, the ex*****on we did of our performance wouldn’t be as good as it was.”

Fiona claimed that although they were given only a short time to practice their choreograph and make their costumes, she had the confidence that they would win. “Although we didn’t, para samin nanalo kami kasi in our hearts we know we did our best.”

It was the same for the other dancers, they know that the efforts and hardships they went through paid off even without bringing home a prize. As a result of their performances, the smiles and visible joy that broke out of the crowd’s faces was their reward.

Jade Mark Peralta – a SBSHS Grade 12 dancer and a former CNHS student added, “We had fun preparing because all of us, dancers, choreographers and propsmen, worked together so that we could perform beautifully and happily at the Balacat festival."

Along with CNHS, other schools in contingent 2 also took part in the fest. This includes Sapang Biabas Elementary School (SBES), Sapang Biabas Resettlement Elementary School (SBRES), Senior High School within Sapang Biabas Resettlement Elementary School (SHS within SBRES), Canidha Elementary School (CES) and Camachiles Elementary School (CES).
