House of Representatives Passes Bill to Create Orlu State in Southeast Nigeria

Orlu State, with its capital in Orlu, will be carved out of portions of Imo, Abia, and Anambra states, encompassing 28 local government areas.

Ugochinyere emphasized the importance of backing the legislation for its successful passage during the second reading, suggesting that the establishment of Orlu State could lead to the formation of Ideato as a senatorial district.

This move is significant, as the South-East region currently has only five states, unlike other zones with a minimum of six.
