The Happy Hour Of Mockery!

"... Mockery has been with man from the beginning of time. Clearly, mockery shall remain to the very end. Mockery is such a good treatment to receive. Mockery, though, is such a bad habit to have.

There is no God in mockery. There is no gain in mockery. There is no life in mockery. Mockery throws up only losses, death, dishonour, hate and sundry ways, shapes or forms of inhuman ungodliness.

,,, In the deep south, a serial entrepreneur kept being coaxed into politics. He kept running away until one day they cornered him into agreeing to be host of a meeting of his political ward. They elected him Ward Leader, a quasi-ceremonial high office. Alas, for three years or so, he endured the mockery he never bargained for as a far younger extraneous person of power kept usurping that office.

Trust mockery: it always or most often than not has happy ending. The man who was not honoured as Ward Leader is now governor of a state. You see the point now. God cannot be mocked, my dear ... ."

Mentorship doesn't equal sponsorship.

It is not synonymous to sorting bills and being responsible for financing a mentee's lifestyle.

It is not an avenue for uncritical appraisals. It is not a leeway to pampering and overindulgence.

Mentorship is a viable tool, presenting platforms for objective observations and/or recommendations.

It is mostly for intangible support; for growth opportunities, borne out of excellence, skills, capacity and expertise.

Mentorship is primarily for advice, correction, guidance and suggestion.

It is about getting a mentee to develop knowledge and foster a career path, through engineering a feedback system for responsibility and accountability.

Mentorship is voluntary and mutual; that is, you cannot refer to a person you do not know nor have access to, as mentor.

Mentorship is not imposed; the mentor must be willing to undertake the task and stay committed through the process.

Mentorship is not necessarily sponsorship, it is the process of gleaning depth and values from the one who knows, in order to become better both in our personal and professional lives.

The hope we desire isn't in some distant future. Itโ€™s in how we show up, work and go for it now, in this very moments of uncertainty.

Truth be told, we have survived uncountable number of uncertain days. Undoubtedly , there are many times you had no idea what to do but you just tried something, learned and got better.

Uncertainty is always present but never in control. Suffice to say that if you take a step today, God is ever ready to move you forward.

Interestingly, you just need to quit something or start, and maybe just WORK something with real effort without fear or concern about how things turn out.

In times of uncertainties, how things turn out don't really matter; rather, what matters is how YOU show up. Show up

February 15th is commemorated Internationally as Childhood Cancer Day. This year 2024, The WHO highlights the vital role of parents, as well as family doctors and paediatricians, in the early detection of childhood cancers.

No one is more ready to invest in their childrenโ€™s well-being than parents. By getting to know the early signs and symptoms of certain cancers and looking out for them, you could save your childโ€™s life.

Merry Christmas! I hope this day finds you filled with joy, peace, and love. ๐ŸŽ„โ›„

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, let us remember the true meaning of Christmas: to give and to receive. Let us give generously of our time, our talents, and our love to those around us. And let us be open to receiving the blessings that God has in store for us.

The 20 QUESTIONS Community is a special place where young people come together to learn, unlearn, and relearn the virtues of life. I am so grateful to be a part of this community, and I cherish the friendships that I have made here.

I hope that this Christmas season will be a time for you to connect with your loved ones, create lasting memories, and make new friends. May your home be filled with laughter, your heart with joy, and your life with blessings.

Invest in Girls' Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being

The 20 QUESTIONS Community celebrates the power and potentialities of girls around the world. Girls are the leaders, innovators, and change-makers of tomorrow. However, too often, girls are denied the opportunities they need to reach their full potential.

When we invest in girls' rights, we invest in our future. Girls who are educated, healthy, and empowered are more likely to lead productive and fulfilling lives. They are also more likely to contribute to their communities and societies in meaningful ways.

With respect to this premise, we are collaborating with the TeenGirls Development Foundation to commemorate the 2023 International Day of The Girl-Child 2023 to enlighten young girls in secondary schools.

Date: Wednesday, 11th October 2023
Venue: Kisito Comprehensive Secondary School, Adiasim, Essien Udim LGA, Akwa Ibom State.
Time: 10am

This year's theme for the International Day of the Girl Child is "Invest in Girls' Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being." This theme highlights the importance of investing in girls' education, health, and well-being to unlock their leadership potential.

Together, we can create a world where every girl has the opportunity to thrive.

The Problem With GOD

The inspiration to write this comes from sometime in 2005, which year saw the publication of a small but powerful book, God in crisis. The author, Pastor Ben Effiong, who hails from Mbiakong in Uruan local government area of Akwa Ibom State, had timed the public presentation of the book to commemorate his permanent return from South Africa. Nearly two decades since, my memory is still fresh vis-a-vis all that transpired, having served as chairman on the occasion of the book launch. I remember many of those who arrived after the book reviewer, Pastor Bassey Isin, had taken all that trouble, grumbling why anyone should say that God is in crisis.*

This writer faces the exact same conundrum over this entry. Too much hasty misunderstanding and misjudgement. Why go ahead of yourself instead of first getting the full grasp? One Sunday Etim even appeared on the Facebook thread promoting this edition to warn me to tread with caution to avoid having a problem with God.

I found that terribly amusing. I liked it, though. I still do, because clearly his understanding of the same God is different from mine. The problem with God is hydra-headed, multifaceted; such a vexed question.

Before delving into the heart of the matter, let us dot the iโ€™s and cross the tโ€™s. Please, put it on record that what the author tried to communicate in that book is the truth that God is everpresent, to help those in crisis. You require that revelation knowledge to catch the drift of the problem with God.

The problem with God is that He is at once the beginning and the end. About that, no contest, no discussion, no dispute. Even if, such contest, such discussion, such dispute is dead on arrival. Nothing you do or say or donโ€™t do or say changes God.

The problem with God is that He is not around but He is too around. You donโ€™t see Him but He is in charge 25 hours every day. He flaunts nothing, not even His almightiness, His omnipotence, His omnipresence, His omniscience. Yet, things happen as and when they should.

The problem with God is that He finished working and doing and talking and retired to eternity to reign and watch. He left us only the Bible and the Holy Spirit to guide those who truly seek Him. It doesnโ€™t matter what anyone says or does about both, Heโ€™s never going to appear physically to defend or prove. Argue or condemn or doubt all you can, God is God.

The problem with God is that He is the only Big Gee in Heaven, on earth, and everywhere else there might be. He owns everyone and everything, up and down, in and out. He is the final authority. He is the only God every other god bows to in worship and submission.

The problem with God is that Heโ€™s too loving, too merciful, too patient. He gives to those who think they hate Him as well as to those He knows love Him. He smiles through it all. He knows us more than we know ourselves.

The problem with God is that He never takes advantage. Imagine having the power to do and undo, to say and unsay, but never exercising it. Who does that? God has the power to deal Satan an everlasting technical knockout but God never remembers He has it nor has He ever attempted to display it. So, Satan continues to fool around in empty bravado.

The problem with God is that He is too mindful of man. God loves man more than man loves himself. God loves man more than man loves Him. Man is Godโ€™s weakest link.

I was going to say that man is Godโ€™s Achilles heel. Those two statements are ungodly and, therefore, withdrawable. Consequently, I hereby take them back. God has neither weakness nor weak(est) link.

The problem with God is that His weakness or weakest link is stronger than manโ€™s or Satanโ€™s strongest. The worst of God is better than any otherโ€™s best. The foolishest of Heaven is wiser than the wisest of the earth. It is not for nothing that His Son is called the author and finisher of our faith.

The problem with God is that He is simultaneously physical and spiritual. He controls both realms without ever raising His voice. He sits high up there, away from everyone and everything, watching over His estates. He never interferes.

The problem with God is that discipline. How do you own everyone and everything but never forces your way or will. Who else can evince such uncanny restraint? How is it He never wants to teach some of us who play Him a lesson?

The problem with God is that He never shares His glory. You expect Him one way, He shows up via another. He can answer your prayer by answering it. He can answer it by not answering.

The problem with God is that He can never be pressured or hurried. His time is the best; perfect, w***y nilly. If you like, you wait. If you donโ€™t like, He still remains God; no shaking.

The problem with God is the consistency. He is forever fair to all; plus including sinners. You donโ€™t have to please Him to make money. You donโ€™t have to pay Him to obtain success.

The problem with God is that thereโ€™s no hate or punishment in Him. You pray, you donโ€™t pray, up to you. Prayer is for manโ€™s good. God never minuses your marks because you failed to pray or fast.

The problem with God is that nothing moves Him. He never gets angry. In fact, He wonโ€™t love you more or less. The problem with God is grace!

Nothing can be more summarily frustrating to those who arenโ€™t on the side of God. So, they go about concocting and disseminating points they think would make God a little less or much less. Fortunately for us and unfortunately for them, God can neither reduce nor increase. He is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow and forever.

Alas, the problem that remains with God is that He is permanently looking to bless, never to curse; in spite of and despite what such a one might have done. The problem with God is that He had forgiven all (in advance). The problem with God is that He is desperate -so to say- for everyone to end up saved at the end. The final problem with God is that once saved, forever saved!

God bless Nigeria!

At The 20 Questions Community , we are manufacturing a Family of Youths who are ready for tomorrow: totally independent, all-round wise and ready-to-go!

We are grooming a Community of young people who are ready for tomorrow, "bookwise" and with a drop of street-savvy.

We are growing a Community of emerging leaders who are ready to learn, unlearn and relearn the virtues of life.

We are setting up a Community of overcomers who believe that serving humanity is top priority.

We are emerging as a Community of sayers and doers who don't just wait for opportunities, but create opportunities.

Ours is a Community of stars who strive not just to earn a living, but also to make a difference.

We are a community ready to be mentored, tutored, trained and groomed for the task of today and the challenge of tomorrow -and we are getting these and more!

We inject creativity into activities for impactful productivity -and it is working for us and the society!

The 20 QUESTIONS Community is a movement, a belief, a culture of virtue, love, value, discipline, respect, ethics and attitude acceptability.

This movement may not be revolutionary, but make no mistake, it is a rehearsal of revolution.

1.0 I like giving. No, that does not sound 'givish.' The expression, 'I like giving,' does not have the spirit of giving. It sounds haughty; 'braggish,' cheerless!

2.0 Come on, this is about what I like; not what I don't. The proper thing to say in the context is: I like givers. That removes self from the focus of the concomitant praise!

3.Now, let me share with you one of the giving pains you cannot pray away: you will lack, sometimes; receivers will exploit you to no end; your harvest will delay if you gave to 'hard soils.' However, even so, I beseech you to give, and always, and cheerfully. Jesus is Lord!
