Magnificent Multitude Of Collective Intelligence And Potentials.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 : Art that turns waste into gold of time

This is a fabulously curated art project , commisoned and presented by the "𝗡𝗱𝗮𝗸𝘂 𝗬𝗮 𝗟𝗮 𝗩𝗶𝗲 𝗘𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲" featuring the creations of renowned and world-class African visual artist "𝗘𝗱𝗱𝘆 𝗘𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗲" in collaboration with the "𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗹 / ( 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲)."

The incredible art collection features performing street costumes dilligently created from recycled environmental waste caused by the consequences of consumerism of the western world especially Europe. The aim of this inspirational project is to raise awareness by educating and highlighting the bothersome problem of dumping hazardous waste in the African continent.

Africa is viewed by the perpetrators as the waste bin and dumping site of the western world excesses. Africa is at the receiving end, paying the price for the western society to indulge in consumerism with no implementation of a proper and sustainable waste management system that will protect its citizens and prevent avoidable environmental contamination.

There is an urgent need for us to do more to protect and save the environment. It is important that we collectively say no to waste and environmental pollution. We need to reduce, reuse amd recycle.

🛸𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗱'𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘁 : A Traditional Costume or Conceptual Fashion Design?

The shepherd's felt coat not to be mistaken for the Burka worn by soldiers is popularly worn by shepherds in the Caucasus Region and The Kurdistan Region. The shepherd coat goes by different names in different regions with slight variation in it's design : It is known as the Iranian Kulagir Coat (Gilak Folk Costume), Turkish Felt Kepenek, Kurdish Faranji Coat e.t.c

The shepherd coat design is a practical concept that is clever by design, the idea of the exaggerated shoulder of the is to make the shepherd's look bigger to deter predators (wolves, bears e.t.c) they might encounter on the mountains and when needed it is used as a shelter for the shepherds.

The shepherd coat design could pass for a modern day conceptual fashion look. As a matter of fact, many designers have drawn inspiration from the concept of the shepherd's coat design. 80s fashion is famous for it's high shouldered designs achieved with shoulder pads, fast forward to the modern day fashion scene, we see fashion designers present us with the concept of strong/power shoulder clothes in their collection and then they refer to it as "conceptual cutting edge design".

Fashion is highly inspired by culture and tradition!

There is no new thing under the sun, long before the modern day fashion movers and shakers , there was the legendary Bill Cunningham Jr.

Boston born Bill Cunningham was an iconic street photographer, fashion writer and milliner. He was the founder of the avante-garde hat label "William J" . Bill Cunningham expressed and presented his creative and surreal designs to an impressed and receptive audience who adored his creations at a time when wearing modest fashion and playing it safe was the trend. His designs were a collectors item, worn by the fashion superstars of the days gone by.

You can view some of the iconic William J by Bill Cunningham hats at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
