Sulu State College Laboratory High School Celebrates Class of 2024 Moving-Up Ceremony
June 7, 2024 — Sulu State College Laboratory High School — The SSC gymnasium was filled with excitement and anticipation on Friday afternoon as the Class of 2024 gathered for their long-awaited moving-up ceremony. Proud parents, family members, and friends filled the seats, eager to witness this significant event, a culmination of dedication and passion, and to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduates.
The ceremony began at 2:00 p.m. with a warm welcome address from Mr. Alzhaydar R. Abdua, the class salutatorian. He expressed his pride in the achievements of his batchmates and reflected on his personal growth and experiences throughout his years at SSCLHS.
Class valedictorian Mr. Ameer-Khyzer C. Pelayo delivered an inspiring message, reflecting on the challenges he faced along the way. Despite these difficulties, he managed to overcome them and continue his high school journey. He also spoke about the collective experiences of their batch, who missed out on an elementary graduation ceremony due to the pandemic. Amidst all the uncertainties, they found strength and resilience.
The keynote speaker, Engr. Abdul-Rani M. Sahirani, an alumnus of the Laboratory High School and currently the college engineer of Sulu State College, captivated the audience with his speech. He encouraged the students to strive hard to reach their dreams, discover their true potentials, and pursue their passions.
The candidates were presented by SSCLHS Principal Asst. Prof. Warid S. Ibno and accepted by SUC President Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE. This was followed by the awarding of the top 10 students and words of wisdom delivered by Tuan Abdusabur I. Hashim Jr., who highlighted the importance of faith and humility.
The supportive college president also expressed her appreciation for the students who have shown dedication and commitment to their studies. She emphasized the importance of attitude, stating that regardless of intellect, it’s crucial to always be kind and humble, no matter how far you’ve come in life.
The distribution of certificates was led by Prof. Nelson U. Julhamid, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs, assisted by Asst. Prof. Warid S. Ibno. As the graduates walked across the stage one by one, receiving their diplomas amidst cheers and applause, the significance of their achievement was palpable. The pledge of loyalty was led by Fatima Aleeya A. Akmadi, 3rd honors.
This year’s graduating class includes 150 students. As the Class of 2024 embarks on their new journeys, they carry with them the lessons learned and memories made at Sulu State College Laboratory High School. Congratulations to all the graduates!
