What would happen if this was by you and it forced you to shelter in place, to compound matters the power is cut off due to high voltage lines in the area. Water pressure is low due to the redirect to the incident. Do you have bottled water and a way to stay warm? Fortunately nothing came from this but it gives you some food for thought of what could happen.

If you were like us this weekend you most likely attended your clubs Winter Field Day activities or maybe you did something on your own. During the time I was up there I had a revelation, what if it was a true grid down scenario or a local disaster that needed ham radio. Would you work with the guys on your team or would you like someone else or just go it alone? I can say that without a doubt that I would work with the guys from this weekend without a doubt. Me and Vanita had a great time and look forward to getting out there into ham radio even more..

Fortunately it was only out for a few hours but what if it's like the picture here and it's not coming back on for a day or Week or two? How prepared are you at your ham shack. Could you operate as a base for a while or would you have to leave after a few hours? Let us know in the comments below. ~ERT
