Hello Ladypreneurs 😃
I trust the month of March has started on a positive note for you.
I've often asked women in business what is their biggest need, and money 💰💰💰always come tops, whatever the season!
The best way to make money is to get customers. Simple. However, sometimes we need to borrow money in order to server our customers better. After exhausting our FFF (family, friends and fools) sources, we turn to our banks. More often than not, these traditional lending partners make it difficult for us to take up their services.
This is where trade finance comes in. This month, Anne Munene, a Trade Finance Consultant from Euro Exim Bank will demystify trade financing and answer all your questions.

Do You Want to Go Into Agribusiness?

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, many people's lives were literally upended. In Kenya, a good number of people decided to give agribusiness a try.

If you are one of them, or if you are considering the idea, here is a guide on how to farm onions, tomatoes and watermelon. I hope you find it useful.

Yesterday, DCI reported a whooping 483 cases of su***de in just 3 months.

This is more than what was reported in 2019 ( for the whole year) which was 192 cases.

These 483 cases have more men who have taken their own lives.
Men say that the covid-19 pandemic made life hard which is a big contributor to su***de cases.

Covid-19 hit all of us hard, but su***de is not the solution.

How do you think we can help our men and women escape from chains of depression?

Do you know of any organizations that help out those battling su***de thoughts and depression?

How often do you check the interest rates on the loans you take especially the mobile loans and the "little money"?

The vast majority of the population especially those in business require money and lending facilities have taken advantage of that. Rarely will you be bothered to check how much interest you will pay on a loan of sh 2000.

But usually these loans are quite expensive. Take an example of Fuliza. Fuliza charges a one time interest rate and a daily fee depending on the outstanding balance. Now, there has been introduction of the 20%excise duty which will make the loans more expensive.

In 2019, The Kenya Bankers Association (KBA) study showed that the mobile-based electricity loan, known as Okoa Stima, attracts a monthly interest of 43.4 percent, making it the most expensive. The Okoa Stima product when annualized pushes the cost of the electricity loan to an eye popping 521 percent.

The thrill of having access to credit in minutes via the mobile phone has led many to drown in debt, and the high interest rates do not ease ability to repay these loans.

The majority of defaulters borrowed loans below Sh1,000.

How often do you check the interest and other fees when getting a loan?

Good morning: What does business growth mean to you?

So, what does growth mean to you in regards to your business? Before making any plans for your business, it is important to think about your strengths and weaknesses. You will need to look at your business in a serious manner to see where you need to improve. Many areas mostly ignored by business owners are management, finance and operations.

Start by looking at weaknesses in the above areas and look at your strengths to see if you can use them to grow in a way that would help your customers grow.

Ultimately, growth should lead to the lifestyle that you want. It could be hiring more employees, having more time for other activities. Knowing what growth means to you and your business is the right step towards getting your goals.
