The bird flu outbreak has impacted 17 million poultry across 26 states to date so far this year, 1.7 million of those affected poultry are in Minnesota. Threat to human health is very low, with only four known cases of human infection so far this year.

A new MPR News/KARE 11/Star Tribune poll has President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump running close in Minnesota. Most of those surveyed disapprove of Biden’s job performance and Trump's standing. Most have made up their minds on the election.

But as the country continues funneling billions of dollars into expanding highway infrastructure, removal projects are becoming more common. We took a look at how these projects aim to deal with the environmental and societal consequences of highways.
The U.S. has been a leader in freeway and road connectivity since the 1950s. However, the consequences of the large and expensive infrastructure can affect wildlife and surrounding communities. Highway removal projects, in turn, are gaining traction throughout the country.
Anxiety and depression rates remain double pre-COVID levels.
Rates are especially high among young adults, LGBTQ+ Americans and those with disabilities.

Also, the COVID-19 vaccination rate slowly creeping up, as is COVID-19’s presence in the state’s wastewater.

We crunched some numbers and found that the number of film and sound recording jobs in LA and NYC has been falling over the past year, even while rising overall in the U.S.

Many jobs in the TV and film industry have moved from traditional centers to other parts of the country.
🕵 We incorporated missing data into Minnesota's reported statewide graduation rates and found that instead of a very small decline in 2023, there was a very slight increase.
📓 But for some groups in specific districts, the updated data changes rates by +10 percentage points.
The Minnesota Department of Education last month reported graduation rates dipped in 2023, renewing concerns around the state’s public schools. But a closer look at the data finds graduation rates are actually climbing. Here’s what happened.

New COVID in MN data!
Statewide COVID levels in Minnesota wastewater increased 12% from the prior week, as of 4/3.
There were big one-week increases in South Central and South West MN. Four-week changes add important context to these numbers, however.

We partnered with the McCourtney Institute for Democracy to analyze the results of their April 2021 Mood of the Nation poll, which included several questions pertaining to voting. Among them was a question asking Americans if they approved or disapproved of the distribution of food and water to voters facing long wait times. They then were asked to give the rationale for their answer in their own words. This is one such answer.
