How to visit Königssee from Munich:

1. From the Munich Central Station, ride the BRB RE 5 bound for Salzburg.

2. Alight at Freilassing. From Freilassing, ride the S4 line going to Berchtesgaden.

3. From Berchtesgaden HBF, ride bus 840 to Schonau am Königssee.

4. From the haltestelle, walk straight towards the boat port. Buy your tickets on site if you have not booked online. Choose roundtrip Salet to include Obersee.

5. Ride the electric boat and enjoy the scenery.

Ticket cost for adult: 28.50 eur
Kids below 6 years old are free.

Chancenkarte or the Opportunity Card Point Based System in Migrating to Germany takes effect in June

To obtain the Opportunity Card, you only have to prove that you have completed (at least)

1. two years of vocational training or a university degree and that you have basic knowledge of German (A1) or English (B2).

2. You will be required to finance your own living expenses in Germany.

3. If you meet these basic requirements, you can use a points system to check the qualifications you need. You must achieve at least six points to be allowed to work in Germany.

European travellers can now fall asleep in Brussels and wake up in Prague with the launch of a new sleeper train service.

The first ‘Good Night Train’ service from the European Sleeper start-up departed Belgium’s capital this week bound for the Czech Republic. On the way, it passes through Amsterdam, Berlin and other popular cities.

It’s another valuable node in Europe’s night train network, after European Sleeper began its Brussels to Berlin trips in May 2023.

Prices start at €49 for a seat and €79 for a couchette in a shared compartment.

The full journey takes approximately 15 hours and 34 minutes.

It was a fine day. I had the card on my hand. But still, I was clueless on how I will send it internationally.

I went inside the Deutsche Post Building, which also says Post Bank.

I was looking around to see how I am going to navigate and send my card. My German reading skill is still basic.

An Oma (grandmother) saw me and said in perfect English, "Can I help you?"

Maybe she was already observing me.

And so, I told her that I wanted to send a card internationally. She said, "ahh, this side is the bank, while this side is the post office. That's where you should go."

As a foreigner, I'm grateful to encounter good locals. More often than not, what I get are stares and rude behavior.
