I had the incredible opportunity to run my very first marathon. I dedicated the hardest run of my life to a hero of mine, William Lawrence Peeples-Hampton for the Hero of America Full Marathon.

26.2 miles is sure to get anybody in a foggy state. But I’m thankful I felt your presence each step of the way. I learned things about myself I would’ve NEVER been curious about if I hadn’t stretched my limits. But I prepared my mind and body to be stretched so that the process wouldn’t be 100% unfamiliar.

Had my two cheerleaders out there today & my incredible partner to help me recover from my physical brokenness 😂.

I challenge you to do something you’ve never done before to get to that place you’ve never been. It is worth it. I promise.

The walk North High football players make from the school to the field before each game was especially solemn Friday night. It was the first game of the 2022 season and the first without their quarterback, Deshaun Hill.

Hill was fatally shot in February while walking from school. The team selected his good friend, Khalil Brown, to hold Hill’s No. 9 jersey on the walk to the field. One onlooker asked, “Whose jersey is that?” Brown held it up proudly and responded, “D-Hill’s.”

The Polars took the field for the first play of the game with Saint Paul Johnson short a man to remember Hill. As a ref blew a whistle to signal a penalty, North’s players took a knee.
