Birthdays and milestones always make me reflect. In the creative space I do things because I have a love for it. With that said sometimes you wonder if it’s noticed but you do it regardless. With that said when it is noticed it’s a beautiful thing. This interaction with @guerreisms meant so much not just because of the compliment. But him getting value from a conversation I had with @karimlateef and that inspiring him. Also the fact that the conversation w/ Karin almost didn’t happen because he wasn’t feeling great that night and almost canceled. The thing is once in the studio and the conversation got going he was in a zone and for that to then inspire Guerre. Guerre is someone I had no connection to but saw in @therake magazine and reached out to interview and him watching the Karim interview helped him to decide to speak with me. He has his amazing magazine @nochasermagazine and I know that it’s time to get back to work but I say thank you to Guerre. I also encourage everyone to keep Creating, keep Navigating, keep working your plan regardless if you are recognized or not!
We all enjoy partying and having a good time. The reality is that’s only something we do occasionally. The reality is day in and out we are having to make sure we look after our bodies and health. When I spoke with @hieroaplus & @opiohierosom I appreciate them sharing thoughts on how #health in #HipHop being discussed isn’t isolated it’s just artists describing how they are living.

It’s not if the challenges will come it’s when they are coming. The key is do you push through. @seanfalyon provides an example of accepting the challenge and going for it. On this clip of #OdellsRoundtable he described back when he designed shirts. He was asked to send some shirts to #Bonecrusher the catch was they needed them the next day. He jumped on it and in the end the video was worn in a #Ciara video
The cool part is Sean didn’t know if it would make the video he just took the opportunity to get his clothes to an artist and see what happened. It’s a reminder to me and hopefully you that we start back embracing the challenges and not just take on things that we know what the outcome will be.

The beauty of a live show is the chance to experience the artist in their true element. The artistry of having a certain rehearsed set, while being able to improvise is sheer magic. I am highlighting that with this clip of @planetsdigable when I saw them in Birmingham, AL some years back at @saturnbham I was already going to see them here in Atlanta. I said let me take the drive down to Bham for @jayforcedotcom S/O to @beatsboxingmayhem who always reminds me of the splendor of smaller venues. With scheduling wasn’t able to interview them but still chopped it up with @officialdoodlebug & @ladybugmecca after the show love that I can truly support good artists doing independent media! Haha @shabazzpalaces didn’t have to call me out like that I just happened to be on the side of the stage by Ladybug great times!

Nothing like taking a wild leap of faith from time to time. Ironically that’s the story behind one of my favorite GA breweries @wildleap out of LaGrange, GA a longtime fan of their brews I decided to call the good brother @iamjameslewis & we made the drive down!
Wild Leap has a new Atlanta location in the works and trust me I will be there #PageandaPint but I wanted to see where it all started. The story is two beer loving friends and a brewer leave behind their corporate jobs to open a brewery in LaGrange. Hence the name Wild Leap. Great beers and friendly staff as you can see it was worth the drive. More detailed reviews will be on #pageandapint write up! Remember Stay Wild and keep taking Leaps of faith! As I come up on another birthday soon. First I give thanks but I also think about the challenges of this past year & blunt conversations. When @businessbullytv joined me on #OdellsRoundtable (full episode on #ArtbyOdell #Youtube page) Dave talked about how it might not sound nice but what’s worse is you not having a true observation of where you are! It’s a great reminder because I must be open to accountability myself and hear things that I need to work on. So I hope this provides some value to you. Also S/O to Dave when we met he told me he appreciated how I have a commitment to health & wellness and he was ready to be accountable for his health. One of the best Leaders I reported to once told me “Odell I will let you splash around in the water & sink a little bit but will never let you drown. It’s easy to focus on the marketing, social media, networking etc. at the end of the day the Work will tell the story. When @brandenlsk joined me on Odell’s Roundtable (full episode on #ArtbyOdell #youtube page) he reminded us about putting in the time to do quality work. I see Branden around frequently & we mostly discuss music, beer or some sports & travel. The thing is I know him because of his writing, met him from his work not seeing him on social media or at a networking event but because of his actual writing I sought him out and now I talk with him about much more but the work brought me to what he does. I love this reminder to myself to focus on the quality of work, so keep grinding and putting in those 10,000 hours with whatever your craft is. Social media is a great tool, but it’s not everything. I have learned that when you truly dive into something it’s not really competition you have peers and you are just competing with a better version of you. It’s very easy to try and be or act like someone who is popular or successful. When @misscaseycarter joined me on Odell’s Roundtable (full episode on #ArtbyOdell #youtube page) she reminded us to stay genuine to who we are. Casey also reminded us to not be thirsty or try and force connections like she stated in the clip I have made this same mistake before. Odell’s Roundtable (available on all podcast platforms iTunes, Spotify follow #ArtbyOdell #youtube page) started from discussions Dre Day and I would have about the dating scene in Atlanta. I kept saying we should record. Finally went to a studio recorded an episode I reached out to @djknotts who stays busy but appreciated the platform and got onboard. I have had so many great people help build the show and happy to see a lot of them now doing their own things in media etc. I no longer focus on Dating I speak about great life and business relationships and introduce the world to amazing people I think you should know about! Funny story I never wanted to call the show Odell’s Roundtable I didn’t want my name attached and I was struggling to find something that fit. My friend T at the time who was helping me put this together said call it Odell’s Roundtable she said you have to put your name on it because it’s you who embodies this.
