My loan of the new Sally Rooney arrived at the Library today! Learnt my lesson of buying her last book and kinda hating it…maybe the hype on Intermezzo is true but I’m not willing to risk it this time 😂

Use your library folks!!!!

Also it matches my bag 🥰

Finally visited the the other weekend and as a lover of Brutalist architecture it made my heart sing 😂💓

There was a wedding reception taking place so I couldn’t go inside the indoor garden but they were blasting some great disco music 🎶

I would love to live in one of the apartments one day but alas I am but a mere peasant (presently but might be tempted to sell feet pics to be able to live in such an iconic place 😂)

I think I may have just started reading the best end of summer book. 🏔️🏨🥀

Strega by Johanne Lykke Holm (translated by Saskia Vogel) takes place on the cusp of autumn aka the twilight days of summer. It follows a group of young maids working a season at an alpine hotel.

I’m only 40 pages in but the gothic atmosphere is very much drawing me in and I feel like this is going to be a book I devour rather quickly which hardly ever happens as I’m the slowest of readers.

Finally got my hands on a secondhand copy of The Vampire Lestat that isn’t ugly 😂

Can’t wait to read this as I read Interview with the Vampire when I was a teenager and never continued the series - until the AMC show rekindled my obsession (bring on season 2!!)

Have you read any of The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice?

So I’ve finally started to journal in my gorgeous diary and I must say I think I could stick to it this year (famous last words). 📖✨🌱💖

In one entry I wrote about going to see dune and no one will ever get to see my really terrible doodle of a sand worm - unless it’s a future archaeologist (human or alien) long after I’ve shuffled off this mortal coil and they find it in the wreckage of a post apocalypse earth…

I made a YouTube video (link in bio) about my new stationary the other week and the fact that I always buy a diary and never stay with it throughout the year - too much of a commitment 😂 - so this little post will stand as another motivating price of evidence to make me stick with it!

Of course, it’s early days but its quite fun to just write what ever the hell you want (without pressuring yourself to make it perfect or meaningful) the diary is beyond cute and goes so well with my ridiculously unnecessary yet necessary lilac roe deer from

Call me insane, but I have bought some new stationery, namely a diary to record my everyday life. The crazy part is that I am the kind of person who almost a...

The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O’Neill

This is perhaps the most charming and adorable graphic novel I have ever read!

It’s a fantasy fairytale about finding community and love while also learning the dying art of making tea from tea dragons - which feels very prescient in our modern society where loneliness prevails and artisans and their crafts are slowly being lost.

It also has LGBTQIA+ and disability rep which I love!

I got the book from the library I work at and you can totally bet on me putting it on every single display going forward 😂

Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop by Hwang Bo-reum

A cute and cosy slice of life novel about a woman who quits her corporate job to open a bookstore (aka the daydream of any bibliophile suffocated by the 9 to 5 rat race).

Hyunam-dong Bookshop is the perfect book to dip in and out of for a dose of serotonin when you need it as the chapters feel rather episodic, almost like short stories with the same characters running through them.

The writing is also soft and kinda self help but not in a heavy handed way that feels super cringe like The Alchemist for example (one of the worst books I’ve had the displeasure of reading) or even The Midnight Library which I thought was rubbish 😂

I’d totally watch a tv series based on it too so like Netflix, KBS or TvN get on it!

For me a sign of a really good book is being compelled to take notes. Or am I just a former English Lit student who wants to write a book one day and therefore can’t read a well written novel casually? 😂

I’m only 64 pages into The Name of the Wind and I could probably already write an essay on it, but I won’t because I actually don’t like writing essays, they’re boring af. So instead I’ll film a YouTube vid in like 6 years when I’ve finished reading it, jokes (or famous last words, you decide) I think I could finish this mammoth book in a relatively short amount of time actually.

Summer with Monika by Roger McGough.

A collection of poems kinda inspired by the Ingmar Bergman film of the same name. - this is the reason I picked it up at the Library I work at.

It’s ok, I liked the illustrations that go with it which are by Chris Riddell and were added for the 50th Anniversary version.

The lines feature in this photo made me think of the use of the moon keeping them company and as to whether that was an allusion to Romeo and Juliet (O, swear not by the moon, the inconstant moon,
That monthly changes in her circled orb,
Lest that thy love prove likewise variable.) - the moon is changeable and if it’s keeping them company perhaps they are changeable too and like in the movie the passion between the young lovers fizzles out.

But yeah it was alright, that’s the review 😂

Just started and finished The Young Man (practically microscopic at 35 pages) by the indomitable queen of confessional writing Annie Ernaux. Read it.
