🚨Police Investigate Murder-Su***de in East Las Vegas Mobile Home Park🚨

A husband and wife are dead in what police are calling a suspected murder-suicide early Tuesday morning in east Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police responded to reports of a shooting around 5:50 a.m. at a mobile home park in the 1500 block of S. Sandhill Road, near Owens Avenue.

According to Lt. Robert Price, a man in his late 90s called 911 saying his son had shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself. When officers arrived, they found a man and woman lying on the living room floor. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

Investigators say the elderly caller had been woken by the sound of a gunshot and walked into the living room, where he saw his son standing over his wife with a gun in his hand. The son then reportedly shot himself in front of his father.

“It is a very tragic incident,” Lt. Price said. “It’s an isolated incident, but a very tragic incident.”

Police described both the man and woman as being in their mid-60s. Their names have not yet been released, and the investigation remains ongoing. Road closures are in place around the scene.

🚨Las Vegas Corrections Officer Accused in Deadly Mother’s Day DUI Hit-and-Run🚨

A longtime Las Vegas corrections officer is facing multiple felony charges after being accused of driving under the influence and fleeing the scene of a fatal crash early Sunday morning.

Maurice Washington, 45, made his first court appearance Monday in Las Vegas Justice Court, where Judge Suzan Baucum set bail at $250,000. Washington is accused of striking and killing 58-year-old Elijah Givens just after 3:30 a.m. on Decatur Boulevard near Alta Drive.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Washington was speeding when he hit Givens, who was crossing in a marked crosswalk but against a red light. Investigators say the impact launched Givens’ body onto Washington’s vehicle before it landed back on the roadway.

Authorities allege that Washington fled the scene, but was forced to stop about half a mile away when his car broke down. He returned to the crash site roughly 45 minutes later, where officers noted signs of impairment and took him into custody.

Washington, a corrections officer at the City of Las Vegas Detention Center for the past 19 years, was off-duty at the time of the crash. His attorney requested a lower bail, citing his clean criminal record and long-term ties to the community.

Despite those factors, Judge Baucum expressed concern over the alleged attempt to flee, calling Washington a potential flight risk.

He remains in custody at the Clark County Detention Center and faces several charges, including DUI, reckless driving resulting in substantial bodily harm, hit-and-run, and possessing a fraudulent vehicle registration.

The investigation is ongoing.
