“...On The Walls Of The Hall Of Fame”
The Louisiana Music Commission Hall Of Fame’s story begins in 1991 as founder, Bernie Cyrus, began his tenure as the head of The Louisiana Music Commission as appointed by Governor Mike Foster. Through Bernie’s leadership, The State Of Louisiana was led into a new era of culture exposition, with The LMC actively promoting the music of Louisiana across the country. For decades, The LMC thrived on the continued success of its board members and cultural programs, featuring a diverse membership of musicians appointed from across the state. The LMC board had one goal: to aid, assist, and promote the music and musicians of Louisiana.
The LMC Hall Of Fame was founded as a natural progression of this incredible partnership. Each year, members of The Louisiana Music Advisory Board assemble in Baton Rouge to vote on a new class of influential Louisiana artists to add to the current roster of over 400 inductees. The unique nature of the LMC Hall Of Fame can be found in this process - musicians recognizing musicians. A concert celebration is held each year to honor the newest class of “Louisiana Legends”, which has featured performances by some of Louisiana’s finest.
In the words of our founder, “Without any further Oo-poo-pa-do...” Welcome to The Louisiana Music Commission Hall Of Fame!
