Please take a few moments to carefully review the page objectives, general background, and rules below:
1) The primary objectives of the page are to provide informative and sometimes entertaining updates on the latest breaking news, traffic, and weather information across Northwest Lake and Northeast McHenry counties. This includes news articles from local media outlets, severe weather informatio
n, fire/police incidents, etc. The coverage area is outlined in the map that is the profile picture for the page. There will be a minimal amount of posts for cities/towns outside of this coverage area and will only occur when deemed to have decent relevance to those who live in the coverage area. If you’d prefer a different format for the page or think other major changes are needed, you can always create your own page and give it a try. Readers who comment in such a manner will be banned.
2) The fire/police scanner incident information provided is intended to help keep those interested informed on the latest breaking news in the area that often is not covered by broader local media outlets. While the goal is to provide the most complete and accurate information possible, it is important to note that these are often developing situations, thus completeness and full accuracy of the information may or may not be available or possible based on the circumstances. Any information that is determined to be incomplete or inaccurate will be updated or reposted once it is realized. Also, incidents such as those reported on occur in most every community and you just may or may not be aware of it. Individual incidents are NOT a reflection on a community as a whole.
3) If the information provided on this page is disturbing to you or if you are easily offended by the opinions or comments that others in the community have to say on a social media site, this page is not for you. Please UNLIKE THE PAGE to alleviate such concerns. Any readers who choose to ignore this, continue to follow the page, and proceed to comment on the page stating their displeasure about the type of information being reported on or about something else they have read on the page will be banned.
4) The page is NOT managed on a 24/7 basis and thus there will be extended periods of time without updates or monitoring. You should not rely on this page as a primary source of information and please note that the page is not directly associated with any local village, fire/police departments, or any other agency.
5) While comments on a given post are welcome, use common sense. Any EXCESSIVE behavior that is over the top, as well as derogatory personal attacks on other readers of the page will be deleted and the person banned on a case by case basis, if/when the comments are identified. With that said, a comment deemed “offensive” by one person may not be considered offensive by many others and will not be removed simply due to a small number of readers who are offended. To re-iterate # 3 above, if you find yourself often disturbed or offended in general with what you are reading, please unlike the page.
6) Do NOT post any names or exact addresses of individuals associated with fire or police incidents that are reported on. Readers who do so will be banned. If the names and/or locations of individuals related to a fire or police incident have been officially released and are being reported on by the broader news media, the page administrator will then determine whether that information will be posted.
7) Requests for the page administrator to post advertisements regarding upcoming community events or charitable functions will not be honored due to time constraints. However, you are more than welcome to post information regarding these events directly to the page. Advertisements for personal businesses are not allowed. Spammers will be banned.
