Hero MotoCorp has finally unveiled their most aspirational scooter – the Xoom 160 in India, at the Hero World 2024. This scooter was first revealed to the world at the 2023 EICMA Show in Italy.

The Xoom 160 is Hero MotoCorp’s first attempt at entering the world of big scooters. As of now, there isn’t a single such scooter in the Indian market and Hero is looking to be the first one. A few Japanese and European manufacturers do have such scooters but they are primarily sold in European and US markets.

The Xoom 160 looks good – thanks to the tall body proportions. At the front, there’s a large windscreen, a pair of V-shape headlights and also a beak, which is usually seen on adventure motorcycles.

From the side, it is clear that the scooter gets a maxi-scooter inspiration due to the presence of a central spine. To make it more touring-friendly, there’s a single seat and a large floorboard space. Hero plans to offer large top boxes as accessories too.

Hero MotoCorp will launch the new Xoom 160 within six months and is likely to be priced around Rs 1.3 lakh (ex-showroom). The scooter will be offered in a range of attractive colours and will also see plenty of accessories.

Kawasaki was expected to launch the new Eliminator 450 cruiser at the recently concluded India Bike Week event in Goa. Instead, the company launched the new W175 Street.

On enquiring about the Eliminator 450’s India entry, we got to know that the motorcycle will be launched here between February and March 2024.

Key details of the bike:

- 451cc, parallel-twin engine
- 49bhp and 6-speed gearbox
- Telescopic forks and dual springs
- 18-16-inch wheel
- Single disc brake at both ends

Once launched, the Kawasaki Eliminator 450 will mainly compete against the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650. Now, it remains to be seen whether Kawasaki brings the Eliminator 450 to India via the CKD (completely knocked down) or CBU (completely built-up unit) route which will be the main factor influencing the pricing of the motorcycle.
