Here's some background for the video. It was sweltering, and my room didn't have air conditioning. I waited for about half an hour before I finally got up to turn my fan on. Oh, and to make matters worse, my room is upstairs. FML.

You might be wondering about that Google Doc. Well, to collaborate, we created a Google Doc with our notes and shared it within the group to add comments. Then, we had it up during recording for reference. Pretty neat, huh?

You can find the Mona Awad episode on both the Literature Done Juicy Podcast and .gethit podcast.

In S02E02 we discussed Alice's Adventures in Wonderland!
Here are ten lesser known facts surrounding young Alice, Lewis Carroll and Wonderland.

1) Alice isn't actually blonde. Based on a real girl named Alice Liddell, she was a brunette. Carroll, the author, was said to be quite infatuated with her.
2) Wonderland got shade when it first dropped in 1865! But by Carroll's death in 1898, it was the hottest children's book in England.
3) The real Alice? She was Carroll's boss's daughter.
4) The book was NEARLY called Alice's Hour in Elfland
5) Mock turtle soup is real. It was popular during Victorian times and contained calf head and organ meats. It was created after the green turtles used to make the original dish were nearly hunted to extinction.
6) Before Wonderland, surrealism stuck to canvas. Alice busted the doors open, bringing the weird and dreamy to life in text.
7) Lights, camera, Wonderland! The first movie drop was in 1903, a snappy 12-minute film you can catch on YouTube.
8) The rabbit hole? Dive in; it's a metaphor for the wild unknown and the depths of your own mind.
9) Wonderland characters as mental conditions? Absolutely! Think EDs, anxiety, borderline personality disorder – Carroll was weaving more than just whimsy.
10) There's even a real syndrome named after the story, and rumour has it Carroll might've danced with it too.

Comment below any facts we've missed.

NEW EP HAS DROPPED 💜
Welcome to another episode of Literature Done Juicy! Today in our ninth instalment of the second season, we're diving deep into the ocean of Yann Martel's Life of Pi.

In this literary voyage, we explore the intricate layers of Martel's storytelling, from the shipwreck narrative to the profound relationships between humans and animals. The novel, claiming to make you believe in God, takes us on a journey with Pi Patel, a young Indian polytheist who survives 227 days on a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker.

We unravel the novel's themes of faith, survival, carnivalesque, ethical implications of animal captivity, freak shows and Pi's struggle to maintain his humanity in the face of isolation. Oh and we sprinkled a Titanic fact in there too.

Will Martel's tale truly make you believe in God? Tune in to find out!
