All the councillors have the right to debete the matter that comes on the flow of the house am deeply disappointed to see that post where his worship the mayor distanced himself from the resolution which was resolved by his council where he even chaired meeting with his full authority as a mayor at full council meeting.
That was proper misconduct by the mayor to have distanced himself and commented negatively on the matter that passed on the flow of the house it's is against the code of ethics of the standing orders of councils in Zambia act no 2 of 2019 number 12 and I qoute•:(collective responsibility of of councilors)
A councilor shall not do anything that inconsistent with conduct of council affairs and in particular shall not
(a) publicly contradict or disassociate oneself from any resolution adopted by the council
(b) issue public statement criticising another councilor or ( c) make unauthorized disclosures of council discussions, resolution or documents this is just to remind our mayor that is out of order must restruct his statement and apologize to this august house.
The best our mayor could have done is just to make the public understand the resolution and defend the council resolutions becouse it was resolved collectively as all the 31 councilors of ndola in the fullcouncil meeting.
I have responded not that I have any person difference with the mayor but becouse I am the member of the committee that delibareted the Matter and proposed to pass it and it was duly seconded by another councilor without any counter proposal..
Note:that the town clerk and manegement has no power to pass any resolution their job is to implement.

LUSAKA GIRL DITCHES UNIVERSITY FOR MARRIAGE TO BARBERMAN
By Buumba Mwitumwa

AGAINST her upbringing as a decent Seventh Day Adventist, a 19-year old female student of Rockview University in Lusaka has ditched school and taken herself into an illegal marriage to a barber who is ploughing her day and night like a field of sweet potatoes.

In the aftermath of Chola Kamaya's actions, her disappointed father Chinoya Kamaya aged 49 of Old Kanyama ran to the Lusaka Boma Local Court arguing that there was no way a 27-year old barberman would be staying with and enjoying his nubile daughter without having paid a single ngwee.

The Church elder of Kanyama SDA branch asked the court to compel Mundia pay K13,000 as compensation for eloping with his daughter especially with what he had put into her education.

Kamaya told the court that he had paid his daughter’s University tuition fees and requirements this year, but to his surprise, he found out on August 19, 2023, she had not been school but staying at her boyfriend's place.

He narrated that one night, when his daughter, Chola was during holidays, he asked her younger sister to fetch her for him as he needed to give her money for other remaining school requirements, but that she was not in her room.

She illegally went to spend a night at her lover's house, and only returned home the next day at 06:00 hours.

“I asked her where she spent her night and she lied to me saying that she slept in my house. That angered me and I asked her to leave my presence. But to my surprise, she went back to the same man’s place where she stayed for two more moths,” said Kamaya.

He said his family then later went to Mundia's place and held a meeting with his parent’s where they agreed to pay a sum of K13, 500 as compensation for elopement, in three installments. But that the money was never paid until date, prompting Kamaya to go to court.

“In my surprise, my daughter sent me a message after I asked her boyfriend for the money that I should stop bothering him about the elopement money as the economy is hard on everyone and he will pay at his own convenient time,” Kamaya complained.

Meanwhile, Mundia told court that he was not going to pay the elopement charge because he did not fetch Chola from her place as Kamaya chased her on his own.

He said that he could not take her back to her parent’s house in the two months they cohabitated because he was too busy looking for a job everyday. “am jobless and we eat at my brother’s house. I cant even afford to feed her to talk of paying a K13,500 for elopement,” Mundia said.

But his lover Chola had a different story, she said Mundia had become her husband and that he managed to feed her three times everyday as he runs a barber shop.

She went on to say, she is no longer interested in going to school as all she wants is Marriage with him even if he pays nothing to her father.

“Am okay with him staying with me for free,” Chola told the court.

However, in passing judgement, Magistrate Lombe Chibesakunda upheld the claim of compensation for elopement and ordered that Mundia paid the same agreed upon amount. “The court shall not add or remove from the initial agreed amount. The defendant shall pay K13, 500 for elopement in installments of K500 with K1,000 first installment effective this month end,” said Magistrate Chibesakunda.

NDOLA SAD NEWS, as TOM MTINE DIES at 97 YEARS

Alderman MTINE on Saturday, 11th February, 2023 celebrated his 97th Birthday at his residence in Northrise, Ndola.

Who is TOM MTINE?

TOM MTINE is one of Zambia’s earliest known MILLIONAIRES.

Mr. MTINE used to manage 53 local companies in the 1950s as CHAIRMAN of the LONRHO GROUP.

Mr. MTINE was also the FIRST CHAIRMAN of ZAMBIA AIRWAYS.

He was FIRST BLACK MAYOR of NDOLA around 1965-66 and the FIRST BLACK AFRICAN to run the FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION of ZAMBIA (FAZ) after independence.

He is an HONORARY MEMBER of the CONFEDERATION of AFRICAN FOOTBALL (CAF).

Mr. MTINE was awarded by FIFA during the global football governing body at the CENTENARY CELEBRATION in 2004 for his contribution to the GAME in Zambia.

What did Mr. MTINE say on his 96th Birthday?

Speaking when journalists from the Ndola Press Association visited him, Mr. MTINE cited PERCEVERANCE, SACRIFICE and HUMILITY as KEY to LONG LIFE.

“To do anything good you have to persevere.
And persevering is not a joke.
When you persevere you meet a lot of people and there you have to go forward,”
Mr. MTINE told journalists with a smile.

“In our language we say,
uzicepesa osati matukutuku ntawi zonse,”
he said.

“Look, life we have got to realise that we have got to look at ourselves. Stop this stop that. Stop drinking;
the door will open for you.
Now, having sacrificed a lot of things, you go forward,” Mr. MTINE said.

As a youth, Mr MTINE worked for the GOVERNMENT before moving into the private sector and later on rising to manage a group of companies.

After obtaining a Cambridge certificate, Mr MTINE learnt bookkeeping besides learning how to manage co-operative societies in Lusaka.

After managing cooperatives in Lusaka such as Chalimbana Teachers Training College, he got a transfer to Ndola at the start of the 1950s.

He worked in Ndola, Kitwe, Chingola, Luanshya and Mufulira.

After leaving the public sector, Mr. MTINE joined the NDOLA BAZAAR Limited where he was employed as a bookkeeper.

He later moved to another company and with his background of accounting and salesmanship which meant travelling a lot.

Mr. MTINE landed a job at Heinrich Syndicate as a public relations officer.

While at Heinrich Syndicate, Mr MTINE was among the staff that moved to LONRHO GROUP after its acquisition and as luck could be, at the new company that bought off Heinrich Syndicate, he earned himself an executive position.

He was first managing director at LONRHO and thereafter he became CHAIRMAN as he was in charge of many companies within the LONRHO GROUP.

In the past, Mr MTINE has been recalling the time he was special envoy of then President KENNETH KAUNDA to South Africa where he went to deliver a classified letter in a secret way for the release of incarcerated FREEDOM FIGHTER, NELSON MANDELA in the 1980s.

“It was not easy, it was a risk. I had to put that letter at the back of my head to pass through Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe was more frightening than South Africa.

The letter was folded, placed in the collar at the back of my shirt and it was to be handed to STATE SECURITY OFFiCERS in South Africa,” he told the Zambia Daily-mail in the 2016 interview.
