As a 17-year-old, Shubham Issar moved from New Delhi to New York to attend Parsons School of Design. She did not know it then, but her work would lead her to accelerators, incubators, Forbes 30 Under 30, TOYOTA Mothers of Invention, Shark Tank, and her company SoaPen.

At Parsons, she met Amanat Anand. They soon bonded on using design to create solutions to real-world problems.

After graduation, they joined forces to take on the UNICEF Wearables for Good Challenge. They learned that more than 50% of infectious diseases that lead to fatalities among kids under 5 can be avoided by washing hands with soap. They challenged themselves with the question, “How can we make handwashing with soap fun?”

Shubham and Amanat won the Wearables for Goods Challenge. That set off a cascade of events, driven by boldness and hard work, that landed them to a surprising deal on Shark Tank.

Today they continue their journey driven by a simple idea, making handwashing fun for kids.

You can hear Shubham tell her story at the link below or on your favorite podcast app.
