In the month of April 2025, the City of Plattsburgh Fire Department answered 459 emergency calls. This brings the total so far for the year to 1,658. On multiple occasions, when both of the City’s ambulances were responding to emergencies the mutual aid system was utilized. April was the busiest month so far this year, both in emergency medical responses and working structure fires.

As call volumes continue to rise the importance of staffing numbers per Platoon has never been more critical. When one ambulance is on a call, and there is a fire at the same time, the Engine Crew is automatically downsized by two firefighters. If both ambulances are in service for the day and responding to medical emergencies at the time of a fire call the Engine Crew is now reduced by 4 firefighters. Luck was on our side with the ambulance crews being available to tailgate on the engine for each of the residential structure fires we had last month. This played a vital role in our response for potential victims, and protection of property.

The new EMS 287 has arrived, and was put into service on March 17, 2025, and has already taken 375 calls.

Make sure to come enjoy the day at the Plattsburgh Card and Collectible Show and keep inviting your friends to make sure you all get a chance to take a picture with Pikachu and help us raise money for the Joint Council for Economic Opportunity - JCEO and their Backpack Program!!
