Diwali circa the 90s: Diwali was a huge part of my childhood. My family would host gatherings pretty often and I reflect upon those times fondly every year. My mom cooked the BEST food while my dad, sister, and I ran last minute errands, set the table, and my personal favorite part- decorated the entire house with diyas. One year my mom drew a diya into a piece of cardboard and my dad poked Christmas lights into it like a DIY lite-brite and put it up in our window, it was the cutest thing. People played card games, the kids all ran about and talked, and music, love, and laughter filled the house. The night usually ended with a game of antakshri. These are some of my fondest memories growing up♥️ Happy Diwali, may the year bring you endless love and good times 🪔
