Garet here,

Unfortunately, it is time for Atif and I to say goodbye as we are shutting down IAGBU. Creating something new and managing both the creative and business aspects presents all kinds of challenges, and others arose along the way--from family members passing to the TBI opening an investigation into me and more. I've learned a lot through all of this, and I'm optimistic about what lies ahead, despite all the setbacks.

My biggest hope when starting IAGBU was that it would be a means to teach others about policing processes, real stories, lessons learned, and areas where change is needed. Transparency and accountability are often viewed in terms of holding bad officers responsible for their conduct, but I also see them as vital to protecting the reputation, community trust, and effectiveness of the officers who do what is right. Many aspects of policing are taken for granted by the public, and I wanted to bridge certain gaps.

The recorded podcasts will soon be unavailable and social media pages will be closed out. I'm considering making a more detailed, personal statement on my author page / YouTube channel, so keep an eye out there if you are interested. I'm still writing. Still working. Still moving forward.

We are thankful for the support we received and wish everyone the best. Be good and be safe.

Garet here. I appreciate the support I've received from so many, including strangers. There are a lot of things in motion, but I hope to at least get another story from the field episode published by this weekend. Be good and be safe.

Garet here. Been reflecting on the Community Review Board’s meeting today. I appreciated the passion and how they strove to tactfully handle the complaint matter in this meeting. As the law is written, there was only so much they could do today. Some good points of concern were raised, and my respect for members has only increased.

The original COB was not perfect, but I can’t say that without acknowledging the issues within MNPD. Still, they were a young COB facing off against an experienced police department. The odds were not in their favor. They were serving an important role, and I believe they should still be around. They were consistently forcing the department to have to explain itself and were drivers of transparency. They didn’t have to get every single thing right to be the right thing for Nashville. Feel free to disagree with me.

If it turns out that Metro HR is the “outside investigator” who will be handling my complaint, then I honestly believe I might as well shred it. There are too many establishment government connections, and HR investigations are routinely deficient in Nashville, especially those of MNPD’s police HR.

I have no doubt there are well-meaning people of integrity within Metro HR, but this investigation is on a whole other level. That being said, I’m going to shy away from recommending who conducts the investigation(s) for certain reasons. However, it needs to be the most objective, impartial, and unbiased organization or group possible.

If I’m wrong or mistaken about anything in my complaint, I’ll gladly accept that if the established facts support that conclusion. I’ll still conduct my own review. Trust but verify.

Difficult situation for the CRB and all of Nashville right now. There is no chain of command on my complaint that doesn’t have a likely conflict of interest.

It grew to 61 pages, and it has been sent. I'm still working on providing a video statement regarding it. To the hard-working men and women of the MNPD who do what they do well and with integrity, you can relax! Some of those with bars and stars have some explaining to do . . .

Garet here. My complaint(s) is sitting at 59 pages now. I'm going to set it aside for several hours before reviewing it one more time. Then I will send it. I am also working on a video with information I want you to know. If I don't get the video out today, it should be tomorrow. Be good & be safe.

We have just created an initial PodBean patron tier called IAGBU Supporter for $2 a month. We hope to add higher tiers when we can deliver quality rewards for those amounts. For those enjoying the show and are excited about what the future holds for it, we absolutely need your support to make it grow.

We have received record request quotes in the multiple thousands for case files, so every dollar of support is needed. Are audience isn't big enough yet to be able to join advertising programs, so this patron program is a great start to monetizing the show.

Thank you to all those who have been enjoying our show so far!

Support Garet and Atif to help bring more stories, education, and information!

Garet here. Looks like I should have things in order to file my complaint with the Metro Nashville Police on Monday. It currently sits at over 50 pages long. I also plan to put out a short video explaining more about why I left the MNPD when I did.

Unbeknownst to the MNPD, part of the Covenant case file was leaked. There were thousands of documents and photographs. My primary concern was an FBI memo suggesting that the manifesto (therein referred to as "legacy token materials") should not be publicly released AND reminded them of the precedent to destroy such things.

My source has agreed to put off making the documents public for the time being, but they retain the documents and have the final call on this. There is still time for the courts and the MNPD to do what is right by the public.

I personally believe that relevant experts (such as within forensic psychology and psychiatry) should be allowed to study the materials. There are lessons to be learned which may help prevent similar future tragedies from occurring. It may also inform needed legislation.

That is why I at least wanted to bring this much to the public's attention. The manifesto (to include all journals/writings/etc.) should not be destroyed, and the FBI implying the MNPD should do so is alarming.
