Last week Sargent-Disc Ireland was delighted to partner with to organise an Irish UK Co-Production Seminar for SPI members. A big thank you to the brilliant panel - Producer David Collins Samson Films; Teresa McGrane, COO , Andrew Reid, Head of Production Northern Ireland Screen and John Gleeson, Partner Saffery Dublin. They generously shared their experience, expertise and advice on creating strong and successful partnerships, best practice when reporting to the revenue in both Ireland and the UK, and how to deal with the employment challenges the Irish revenue has introduced that impact on Irish crew and talent.

The panel, Chaired by Avards, Head of Sales and Marketing, -Disc Ltd summed up the lively, informative discussion with key advice on watching your production cashflow and understanding your funders requirements.

Sargent-Disc Ireland’s Digital Payroll Workflow walkthrough, designed for co- productions paying crew and talent in both territories followed the seminar after which SPI members, the panel and Sargent-Disc team got together for networking drinks at The Alex Secret Garden.

A fantastic &TVUK Irish Film Festival London Opening Night at Vue Leicester Square and the Century Club. Opening with the inspiring documentary Mrs Robinson about Ireland’s first female President who modernised legislation impacting women and the gay community against the odds. So delighted to be supporting the Festival and in particular the Best Documentary Award which will be presented on Monday!

As we are coming into the final days of , we are focusing on this year's theme of Reclaiming Narratives.

By focusing on 'Reclaiming Narratives,' the aim is to bring more attention to true stories and history. In today's world, stories serve as powerful tools that help us to understand our past, present, and future.

This week's recommendations are The Wire (2002-2008) - recommended by Sham in our payroll team - and BlacKkKlansman (2018), One is an exciting piece of fiction full of inventive plots, while the other draws from true events, providing an authentic look into real-life narratives.

The theme of this years is Reclaiming Narratives. One of the best ways to take control and tell stories is through film, correcting historical inaccuracies, showcasing untold successes and highlighting the complexity of black heritage.

This weeks recommendations from our staff are When They See Us (2019) and Shirley (2024), two amazing examples of heart-wrenching and inspirational story telling.
