Why bands had a better shot back in the 40s, 50s, 60s, & 70s... The B-Side becomes the HIT. Back in the day, the record company executives put all their hopes and dreams into a record, predicting that it would be a smash, only to find Radio DJ's (who could PICK THE SONG THEY PLAYED!) would favour the B-Side i.e. the track the record company thought little of, or even considered a throwaway. Here is the debut record from Phil Spector's first band, The Teddy Bears "Don't You Worry My Little Pet". It's the B-Side that was played by a station in Fargo, North Dakota, and KDWB in Minneapolis that started to get some traction. And convinced Doré Records to press another 500 copies with the labels switched (A>B, B>A) and it became a #1 HIT.
