And to wrap up the year, our final release was the immersive SHADOW CAST by : a truly unique handmade artist’s book, printed risograph XXL.

Our 2024 roundup continues! November saw the long-awaited reissue of a Y2K photography classic: Lars Tunbjörk’s iconic OFFICE, where the corporate melancholy of the most ubiquitous places in the Western world is studied with masochistic delight

Tunbjörk photographed across Sweden, New York and Tokyo to capture the banal uniformity of what he called “the most common – but closed and secretive – place in the Western world.”

We channelled this banality into our redesigned new edition, where introduced a drab, bureaucratic rework of his original 2001 book design, including in its dossier-like slipcase a second volume, LA OFFICE: a previously unpublished series that we paired with a visionary 2015 essay by the late David Graeber where he coined the phenomenon of ‘Bullsh*t Jobs’.

Discover the delights of OFFICE at loosejoints.biz alongside an exclusive Special Edition with an accompanying print certified by the .

Next in our 2024 roundup is Khashayar Javanmardi’s poetic CASPIAN, published this fall.

How do we document climate change? Javanmardi turns his eye to the Iranian shores of the Caspian Sea, where the world’s largest body of water is suffering the effects of pollution, overfishing, industrial exploitation and climate change, shrinking its shores and impoverishing the region’s inhabitants. Javanmardi uses an elegiac visual language to infuse his documentary vision with a melancholy yet dignifying quality that pays tribute to the lives that persist and depend on the water’s diminishing returns.

CASPIAN is a tactile landscape hardcover edited by with custom Farsi typography by and an essay by director Nathalie Herschdorfer. It is the winner of the Photobook Award, the Prix 2024, and a recipient of Un/Fund 2023.

Our 2024 roundup continues with a unique artist book from Ngadi Smart, WATA NA LIFE.

was the winner of our Publishing Ecology award with her jubilant project that reverses visual clichés of climate change in Africa, using collage to uplift and display the complexity of water poverty in her native Sierra Leone. In Smart’s colourful and challenging assemblages, documentary witnessing is intertwined with a playful and unique visual language that is further enhanced by an experimental book design: every page is stab-stitched into a tactile hardcover and post-folded to make layers of association, as Smart seeks a path to climate justice through ambitious visual strategies.

Printed in a limited edition of 500 copies, every copy of WATA NA LIFE is signed and editioned by the artist, with an accompanying fundraising Print Edition which fundraises for the communities depicted in the book.

Summer 2024 saw us release Abdulhamid Kircher’s raw and ambitious ROTTING FROM WITHIN: a dense decade-long project examining generational trauma, masculinity, violence and identity in a searing autobiographic narrative.

Working and editing with from his archive of tens of thousands of images, ROTTING FROM WITHIN uses a complex visual language to explore Kircher’s Germano-Turkish heritage and the violent history of his father, where dense photographic clusters oscillate between a precise pictorial style and a nuanced approach to collage.

Kircher’s debut monograph accompanied a solo exhibition of the work at in Berlin and was nominated for First PhotoBook at the 2024 Paris Photo–Aperture PhotoBook Awards.

We are now down to our final copies. Get yours online before they’re all gone, alongside two limited edition hand-prints straight from the artist’s darkroom!

Our roundup of a busy 2024 continues with ’s sublime, confident and empowering HARDTACK, his second monograph uplifting the long-enduring nature of Black culture and traditions in the American South.

HARDTACK uses the landscape and its complete history as a guide but not a subject, implying the deep ties that bind modern Black communities resiliently to their regions in the face of adversity and joy. Edited closely by and with an incredible essay by the great on the complex histories of the South, HARDTACK is also nominated for the 2025 Deutsche Börse Photography Prize.

You can find two limited silver gelatin prints from the series online in our clothbound slipcased Special Edition of the book, and the opportunity to get Fortune’s breakout debut I can’t stand to see you cry at 50% off online in our Artist Bundle.

Collecting, imagining, dreaming, recording: next in our 2024 roundup is Nigel Shafran’s WORKBOOKS 1984–2024, a 528-page chronology of the artist’s disarming photographic notes.

From our previous collaborations we knew that Shafran had an extensive practice of sketching out ideas and gathering thoughts in dense, layered notebooks. From there, WORKBOOKS emerged: an invitation to lift the lid on Shafran’s distinctive, intimate and intuitive career through an oblique glance into the workbooks that shaped Shafran’s iconic publications, series and photographs across the last forty years, alongside private and personal ephemera.

Designed and edited by Linda van Deursen, this chunky book is a creative inspiration; discover it and save 50% off THE WELL online as part of our Artist Bundles.

Next up in our 2024 roundup: the playful and circular A HOUSE OF CLAY by Swedish darkroom maestro ! Gustafsson uses the fabric of everyday consciousness to stretch and bend the photographic plane in an associative sequence of photographic works.

Gustafsson’s warm slices of life are digested in the darkroom, where the technical processes of photography fall in on themselves, becoming embedded in the image: cycles of photographing, printing, failing, dodging rules, repeating and scanning.

We also created a beautiful Special Edition with a limited hand-print straight from Erik’s darkroom 👀

Happy to see two of our brilliant artists shortlisted for the Prix Élysée 2025!

’s A BODY THAT SPEAKS AS A BIRD uses his deconstructed documentary approach to examine Colombia’s rural-to-urban migration, while ’s THE COVE reflects on loss, memory, and the dualities of pride and progress in the Black American South by pairing Fortune’s graceful eye with a questioning of nostalgic ideals through vernacular photography.

This prestigious award recognises the best of contemporary photographic practice with the opportunity to develop a brand-new body of work for exhibition and publication. Best of luck to all nominees .elysee

Printed entirely on the risograph and laden with ink, this oversized artist’s book is corporeal in scale, where Silano’s conceptual gestures of reframing comment on marginality – with his subjects literally kept in the shadows – speaking of a mental hidden space pulsing with desire and longing.
