At the head of the Premiers Grands Vins Classés. Denis Alary runs this human-sized estate, whose winegrower spirit has always been the basis. The property is located entirely in the commune of Cairanne, with 3 different terroirs which allow subtlety in the blends depending on the vintage. The vines are cultivated on 30 ha with an average age of 35 years. Domaine Alary is made up of a great diversity of soils in conversion to organic farming.
- South-facing half-slopes, made of blue and white clay.
- Old scrubland terraces.
- A tray covered with rolled pebbles, on a basement of white and red clay.
- Richer land, bordering the Plan de Dieu, for local wines.
But his great passion remains vinification and aging of wines. Each year he tries new things with the sole aim of improving the quality of his wines for your greatest pleasure and his too. After studying oenology in Montpellier and Dijon, and having worked and vinified in several countries, in New Zealand at Seresin, in Australia at Henschke and in France at Confuron-Cotetidot in Burgundy, Jean-Etienne now works with his father, Denis, who, from the start, let him take charge of the wines, with his first vinification on the estate in 2016.
Always superb wines, with this red Cairanne L'Estevenas 2019, fleshy and fragrant (overripe red fruits, leather, spices), mixes structure and roundness, a wine of very good evolution.
The white Cairanne L'Estevenas 2020 has predominantly pear and hawthorn scents, it is fat and elegant on the palate.
Remarkable red Cairanne La Brunote 2018, with this nose dominated by small red stone fruits and smoky notes, very typical, with a complex finish.
We continue with its red Cairanne La Jean de Verde 2018, combining power and finesse, colorful and intense, very fragrant (plum, garrigue, humus). The white Cairanne La Jean de Verde 2019 smells of linden and quince, a very nice expressive and harmonious wine with lingering notes of dried fruits on the finish, supple on the palate.
Pretty Cairanne red Tradition, with a beautiful dark color, ample and velvety, persistent in the mouth, fleshy and very aromatic, where very ripe black fruits blend with spicy notes.

At the head of the Premiers Grands Vins Classés. A family farm of 12 ha. Christian Vœux, an oenologist by training, took over this vineyard in 2005, when his parents retired. The soil that characterizes our appellation comes from the hills of the Dentelles de Montmirail massif against which the village is built. Erosion, over time, has brought down the clays, marls, sands and pebbles which have come to cover the hillsides and terraces and which ensure a beautiful diversity of soils from one place to another. The limestone rocks of the hilly massif give very calcareous soils and therefore an evolution of the wines towards minerality. The exposure of the vineyard, on the western slopes of the hilly massif brings us the sun later. The duration of exposure of the vineyard to the summer heat is therefore shorter, which makes it possible to keep more natural acidity in the wines and gives them a nice freshness and a significant aging potential. The treatments necessary for the protection of the vineyard are made with simple elements such as copper sulphate and sulphur. The treatments are made at the minimum possible dose and decided according to the weather, the presence of diseases or parasites in the environment and the stage of development of the vine. The estate has been certified organic since the 2020 vintage. In addition, the red wines have been certified Vegan since the 2018 vintage.
Like us, you will love its CDR-Village Séguret Réserve 2019, Grenache noir, Syrah, on clay-limestone terraces, it is a warm wine, intense in color and aromas, which smells of ripe fruit and spices, perfect on game or stew.
Superb CDR-Village Séguret Estelles 2018, 70% Grenache noir, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, Cinsault, old Carignans, partially matured for 12 months in new barrels and several wines on notes of sloe and blackberry, a rich wine in color, dense and with a beautiful aromatic persistence on the finish.
The CDR-Village Séguret blanc La Daurèle 2021, with a brilliant color, a nose of citrus fruits and fresh white fruits, is all on the palate, where we find white flowers and apple. Excellent CDR-Village Séguret rosé Le Rosé de Simone 2021, Grenache noir, Cinsault, Carignan, aging for a few months on lees, with a fine and delicate mouth, with aromas of fresh fruit and rose, an intense and refined palate at the same time, very charming. Excellent CDR-Village Séguret red Les Merrelies 2019, with a powerful nose (wild strawberries, humus...), a wine with supple, fleshy and well-structured tannins. Always this IGP Vaucluse red La Vigne de Louis 2021, with this touch of cooked wild strawberries, supple and full-bodied at the same time. As for the IGP rosé Le Rosé d'Yvonne 2020, with a beautiful color with brilliant reflections, it is a wine that releases aromas of very ripe fruit and garrigue, with a typical mouth, always a success!
We end with the CDR-Village Séguret red Laurances 2019, deep in color, very harmonious on the nose and on the palate, with these very persistent notes of blackberry and pepper.

Since the 1970s, Jean-Pierre Margan, a pioneer in organic farming, has been pampering his vines, located on an exceptional terroir, and producing wines of character and high quality. He passed on his passion and experience to his daughter Nathalie, 5th generation of winegrowers!
Always a pleasure to taste, with this Luberon rouge 2019 70% Syrah, 20% Grenache and 10% Vieux Carignan, deep in color, very harmonious on the nose and on the palate, with these very persistent notes of blackberry and pepper. Superb Luberon Vendanges de Nathalie red 2019, with a pretty bright garnet color, fragrant (blackberry, humus...), a beautiful finish, powerful and dense mouth, with well-melted tannins.
Very gourmet, this Luberon rosé 2020, 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre, very aromatic, both firm and delicious. Remarkable white Luberon 2020, Roussanne, Marsanne, Clairette, Grenache, Bourboulenc, Vermentino, it reveals aromas of ripe white fruits, a beautiful aromatic richness on the finish, with these nuances of pear and lily.
Always this beautiful range of IGP Méditerranée, with La Canorgue red 2016, 25% Merlot, 25% Cabernet and 50% Syrah, it is supple, full-bodied, well aged. The Viognier 2020 is very round, with a tasty mouth, it releases subtle aromas of almond and lime blossom, smooth on the palate but lively in character, with a nice finish. And the IGP Méditerranée Coin Perdu 2018 red has a beautiful garnet color, generous, with aromas of morello cherries and spices, robust, with balanced, tasty and dense tannins, a slightly peppery wine.

Dans le Médoc, le Classement évolue aussi totalement et présente désormais les vins par appellations.

Comment ne pas s’enthousiasmer pour des vins de Margaux ou Saint-Estèphe que l’on savoure entre 30 et 40 €, quand on tombe dans les même appellations sur des bouteilles à 60, 80 ou 200 €...

Un exemple pour comprendre notre Classement, à millésime comparable : en Saint-Estèphe, Haut-Marbuzet 2016 vaut moins de 50 €, au même prix que le second vin de Montrose (la Dame de Montrose), quand Montrose 2016 est affiché, lui, à 250 €.

Comprenons-nous bien : Montrose est un très grand vin mais vaut-il 5 fois plus que le cru d’Henri Duboscq, régulièrement savoureux et pour lequel nous connaissons une régularité qualitative sur plusieurs décennies ? C’est la raison pour laquelle Haut-Marbuzet est avant Montrose en ce qui concerne le rapport qualité-prix-typicité.

On comprend aussi la place de Cos-Labory, même prix (toujours pour le 2016) que Haut-Marbuzet, ce qui en fait également un bien grand vin à prix doux. C’est simple, non ?

Dans la lignée, des vins comme Côme (25 € seulement pour le 2015), La Bridane, La Galiane, Mayne-Lalande, Plantier Rose et une belle sélection en Haut-Médoc et Médoc, très abordables.

Comment expliquer également que Grand-Puy lacoste, l’un des Pauillac les plus racés qui soient, s’achète seulement entre 80 à 90 e, là ou tant d’autres crus du coin, se permettent de s’afficher au même prix (quelques-uns à Saint-Julien ou à Pauillac peuvent faire sourire). Lascombes est également un très grand vin, classique et typé, comme Batailley, et les deux méritent leur prix.

Car la mode Parker (il ne reste que sa marque, gare à ne pas vous faire avoir en croyant que ce sont ses propres sélections), c’est fini ! Comme les renommées d’antan.
On ne veut plus de certains crus “lissés” par des vinifications sophistiquées, des matraquages en barriques neuves (ou en copeaux de bois). On se demande toujours pendant combien de temps des ”crus classés” officiels (Classement de 1855, totalement obsolète quand on sait que les territoires, les hommes et les techniques ont évolué depuis plus de 150 ans) peuvent se présenter à des tarifs prohibitifs. Hélas, on trouve toujours des consommateurs, souvent peu informés, se contenter de boire une étiquette, comme en Champagne.

Les terroirs signent donc les vins : graves garonnaises à Saint-Julien, quartz et cailloux roulés à Saint-Estèphe, croupes de graves maigres à Pauillac, graviers et cailloux à Margaux, formation caillouteuse mêlée de sable et d’argile en Médoc...

Il manque aussi des figures légendaires dans la région, qui n’ont pas été remplacées.

Le Médoc, que cela plaise ou non, à une image dégradée en France de certains grands crus, tant les consommateurs ne s’expliquent pas leur prix et ont tendance à rechercher dans d’autres régions des vins avec plus de personnalité.

Latour est évidemment classé Hors-Classe, étant toujours l’un des plus grands vins du monde, et se payant même le luxe que son second vin, Les Forts de Latour, soit régulièrement meilleurs que beaucoup de crus “classés”.
