Getting hyped for production season! 🔥🤘🏻

Hey, it’s ! Today we asked our cool colleague, Rachel, "When is the last time you did something exciting? How did it make you feel?" She said, "Setting up the PA for PA training last week. I had a great time teaching everybody and learning new things myself. It was super fun and exciting playing around with the rig, working on tuning, and playing with the console! It gave me time to get excited about the upcoming production season, and get in the right frame of mind for our busy summer of production!”

Here at EQP, we are always striving to be better and try new things. Even if we think we know everything, there is always something new to learn and try! Life isn't fun without some challenges!

Tell us about the last time you did something for the first time in the comments!

2022 was a wild year for me filled with lots of massive change and growth. I quit my job at Sweetwater that had become my entire life and identity for 3 years. Left the midwest and moved to Colorado and restarted everything from the ground up. I’d be lying if I said it was easy but it was extremely worth it.

The last 3 years of my life have probably been the most challenging for a huge number of reasons. But even through all the chaos there’s so much I’m thankful for and I wouldn’t change a thing! I’m really proud of all that I’ve accomplished in that time and all the challenges I overcame. For the first time in a while I honestly don’t really know where I’m headed. I still feel like I’m in the middle of a huge transition in my life. I have goals and plans and new projects that I’m starting but I feel like I’m still figuring out my direction through all that.

That being said lately life has felt like a breath of fresh air after being under water for a long time and I’m excited to see where it takes me! With less pressure from myself. I’m excited to see what 2023 has in store!! 🤘🏻🎉🔥❤️🌞

Here’s some of the years highlights! Moving from Fort Wayne to Denver! Time with my doggo and Antonio ❤️ great friends! Installing a badass console! 🙌🏻🎉 cheers to everyone who was a part of this year! Love you all! ❤️

A nice Friday night gig! 🙌🏻🔥

It’s been quite a journey to get here but I wouldn’t change a second of it! So thankful for all the friends and family who helped make it all happen even in the smallest of ways! You all know who you are! Love you! ❤️❤️

Rachel Leonard Audio

Rachel Leonard is an audio engineer and producer from Lombard, IL. Rachel’s passion is studio recording but her wide range of skills make her a very versatile engineer. She has worked on recording many sessions for multiple genres ranging from jazz to rock. She also has tracking, mixing, and mastering experience across genres.

Rachel’s love of rock music while growing up led to her interest in the production and recording of songs and albums. Rachel wanted to learn how to be a part of making albums come to life. She wants to help musicians and bands create music they are proud of that helps them connect with their listeners. Her growing interest in engineering led her to Indiana University where she earned her degree in Audio Engineering and Sound Production from the Jacobs School of Music.

Studio recording and mixing are Rachel’s specialties. Her favorite projects to work on are rock sessions including: alternative rock, punk rock, indie rock, and metal. Rachel’s favorite projects include engineering/producing for her own s***k rock band, Miss Demeanor and the Mean Beans, and recording 3 singles for the metalcore band The Committing. Another very memorable session was with the alternative rock band, Secret Mezzanine who wrote and recorded a new song with Rachel all in one day. Rachel particularly enjoys drum tracking and was overjoyed to record with session drummer Kenny Arnonoff.

While at the Jacobs School of Music Rachel had the opportunity to record everything from full orchestra concerts to big rock sessions. She has done live sound for Jazz, Latin American Ensemble, Singing Hoosiers, and more. She also worked on stage at the Musical Arts Center on Electrics Crew doing lighting for the operas which led to other technical theater work around Bloomington.
