Rachel Leonard Audio
Rachel Leonard is an audio engineer and producer from Lombard, IL. Rachel’s passion is studio recording but her wide range of skills make her a very versatile engineer. She has worked on recording many sessions for multiple genres ranging from jazz to rock. She also has tracking, mixing, and mastering experience across genres.
Rachel’s love of rock music while growing up led to her interest in the production and recording of songs and albums. Rachel wanted to learn how to be a part of making albums come to life. She wants to help musicians and bands create music they are proud of that helps them connect with their listeners. Her growing interest in engineering led her to Indiana University where she earned her degree in Audio Engineering and Sound Production from the Jacobs School of Music.
Studio recording and mixing are Rachel’s specialties. Her favorite projects to work on are rock sessions including: alternative rock, punk rock, indie rock, and metal. Rachel’s favorite projects include engineering/producing for her own s***k rock band, Miss Demeanor and the Mean Beans, and recording 3 singles for the metalcore band The Committing. Another very memorable session was with the alternative rock band, Secret Mezzanine who wrote and recorded a new song with Rachel all in one day. Rachel particularly enjoys drum tracking and was overjoyed to record with session drummer Kenny Arnonoff.
While at the Jacobs School of Music Rachel had the opportunity to record everything from full orchestra concerts to big rock sessions. She has done live sound for Jazz, Latin American Ensemble, Singing Hoosiers, and more. She also worked on stage at the Musical Arts Center on Electrics Crew doing lighting for the operas which led to other technical theater work around Bloomington.
