🫡 We remember. Where were you? 🇺🇸 We can't think of OJC and Panama without thinking of our awesome friend, Rick Bowman (COL, Ret.), whom we ironically lost a year ago yesterday. 😔

Rick was a Master Army Aviator, Master Parachutist, and a Ranger — among an incredible host of other honorable achievements. Rick was severely wounded while piloting a Little Bird during a complicated night mission in Panama. He later received the DFC. Rick had a lot of side effects from his injuries, but he had a perpetual smile and a quirky sense of humor that never failed us.

You are remembered, Rick! Much love to Diane and your friends and family!

🏫 It's true. WOC school seems to keep getting easier and easier! Some of us had to walk to WOC School uphill both ways in the dead of winter! 😂 🤣 Just kidding but we suspect some of y'all will probably have zero clue what this subject is about — and be thankful for it! 😂

But for those who had to go through the "joy" of getting Peer Eval'd we'd love to hear your reflections on the good, the bad, and the ugly.

We hadn't thought of this uncomfortable practice in a minute but earlier we were referencing a guy who was "Peered out" of WOC school (and eventually convicted of killing a family at Bragg/Liberty) We understand that SGT Tim Hennis was peered out of Candidate School. (Ya don't say!)

Anyway ... Much like the graduation flyovers, we're not quite sure when this practice ended either, but seems like it was in the 80s?

Gotta be real, definitely thought about the dread of Peer Evals more than once when going through WOCS and thought, "Damn. I'd surely be the one in my row, peered out!" 😂

So, if you have any memories of how it worked or any of the other particulars we'd love to hear all about it! Did the OCS folks have to endure this too?

Questions? lol 😂

Yes, we have to agree — it seems like whoever wrote the captions has zero concept of Igor Sikorsky‘s accomplishments. 😂 If Igor and Sergei hadn’t already taken one for the team multiple times in pioneering all the basics of Helicopter flight then yeah this might be notable. Otherwise whatever. 😆

By the way just noticed that Sergei is around 98 years old. 🤩 Wow— What a legend.

🍴 🥗 Eating lunch at Mother Rucker was always the highlight of the day. J'eat yet? Where we gonna go? Who's car we gonna ride on? Would we go get some at Larry's? 🐷 Or maybe Effie's Cantina in Enterprise? 🤩 Doug's Deli in Daleville? Or maybe go to the Conestoga in Dothan for dinner? So many amazing choices come to mind. 🤩

🍴For this one, let's keep it close to Rucker, like anywhere within 20 miles of Rucker. And it can be at any point through the years, and it doesn't matter if it is open or closed.

🍴Also, tell us your favorite thing to order at the place you picked.

Feel free to throw out more than one place and if you want to toss out some honorable mentions further afield (outside the suggested 20-mile radius).

🇺🇸 We remember! On 7 December 1941, America was cruelly thrust full force into war when our American service members were ruthlessly attacked at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

These brave souls endured an unimaginable hell on earth and the sights of unholy destruction, and so much death. They found the courage to stand and fight — All for the future of America and the enduring freedom of her citizens. 🇺🇸
Thank you courageous warriors — Thank you. ❤️ 🇺🇸 ❤️

🚁 Did your class get to do the Graduation Fly-By? 😎
🚁 What year was your Fly-By?
This subject has come up a couple of times in the last few days. For many years, graduating classes at Fort Rucker participated in a mass formation flight that would pass over main post in a big display for their visiting families who were gathered at the Parade Field.

It looked a whole lot like this vintage postcard, except the two exterior Hueys were trailing smoke for special effect. (Unsure when this postcard photo was captured. The date on the personalized bit is 1982.)

We've heard friends talk about this probably up to about 1985, and seems like it was discontinued (for some reason?) around that time.

School us up. When did it start? Why and when did it end? How many were there in the flight? Where did you launch? What else is relevant?

We sure feel bad for the first flight that didn't get to do the fly-by! 😞

Caption: After completing their basic helicopter flight training program, the graduates participate in a "Fly-by" in formation, while parents and families observe the ceremonies from the parade grounds in front of Post Headquarters. Visitors to Ft. Rucker will also enjoy a trip through the U.S. Army Aviation Museum

Also, our French is not great but it sounds like Christine was all likkered up. 😂

🚨 📺 ⚠️ Flipped on the tube just now and SOMEBODY had left the receiver on ID. 😂 So this show is on currently. Have Mercy! 😱 😳 😞 Most of us have been cheated on, but geez — this guy takes the damn cake. 😡

The show is called "Who the @ #$ # (Bleep) Did I Marry," and it is about Kris Johnson and her former spouse — Army Colonel James "Jim" Johnson, III — the son of well-known retired LTG James H. Johnson, II, who led the Fort Bragg, 82nd Airborne Division during the 1991 Persian Gulf War. (Sad to say that the LTG defended the disgusting actions of his loser son til the end). 🙄🙄🙄

✳️ [Note: Nothing to do directly with Army Aviation.] ✳️

Jim Johnson, Jr was often viewed as a rising star officer in the Army before getting hit with a bevy of utterly disgraceful and shocking charges.

What did he (allegedly) do?
• Had an ongoing torrid affair with an Iraqi (Kurdish) woman (Haveen Alladin Muhammed Al-Atar) he met in Iraq in 2005-06, who was the daughter of his cultural adviser/interpreter
• Fathered a child with said lover and then invited his lover's whole family to his family home for the holidays while forcing his current spouse and kids to play hostess
• Bigamy: Pled guilty to marrying Al-Atar before being divorced from his own spouse in a ceremony that was carried out by proxies for both of the two in Montana (wtf!?)
• Admitted to making numerous trips to visit his mistress in the Netherlands using official vehicles and government-issued credit cards.
• Acknowledged arranging official transport worth thousands of dollars for the woman
• Paid tens of thousands of dollars of contracts for the father of his lover for things that “were neither produced nor received”
• Found guilty of giving the family an Army cell phone on which they ran up more than $80,000 in charges
• Forged fake divorce documents to screw over his spouse and kids of 20-some years
• Tried to get his wife to abandon their kids in Italy
• Moved his foreign national lover into their family home jeopardizing his security clearance
• And much much more. Way too much to put here.

But the worst thing he did was how he treated his spouse (a former soldier) and children. His behavior was soulless, cruel, and downright despicable. But the actions of his spouse are heroic, especially in the face of such psychotic evil and while battling cancer with no health insurance because Col Johnson faked the divorce decree to screw over his spouse — apparently. 😑

His lies and scheming are beyond disturbing.

Wrote this up in a hurry so we could get it shared while the show was still on. Now y'all won't see this til like next week, but SOMEONE in our household assures us that this show airs in reruns quite frequently. Watching now it is well done, even though the title is salcious. And we are blown away by the egregious disregard for military decorum, laws, and common decency displayed by this cad!

🚁 Do they offer a free or discounted meal?
🚁 How good is the food?
🚁 Ambience?
🚁 What else?

We wrote lunch for the sake of simplicity, but any meal works.
