Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu tutored Enugu Rangers is on the verge of making history. The Enugu-based flying antelopes top the Nigeria Professional Football League table with 57 points from 32 matches with six league matches to the completion of the 2023/2024 Nigerian Premier League season. The last time Rangers won the league was in 2016 when Coach Emmanuel Amakabor defied all odds to break the 32-year winless run of the Enugu side without a league title. Banking on the euphoria of winning the league Rangers won the Nigerian Federation Cup in 2018, which was the last trophy of the Enugu side. The battle for who wins the league is still open with the likes of Remo stars, Enyimba International, 3SC, and Plateau United all in the picture. Rangers has 57 points, Remo Stars 53 points, and Enyimba 53 after they were deducted two points for game disruption in the game against Doma United, although the NFF disciplinary committee will have the final say on the matter. The excitement is high, the coal city is burbling and the atmosphere at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium(the Cathedral) during league matches is amazing. There is this belief among the management, players, and supporters of Enugu Rangers International that the 2023/2024 league trophy will be coming to Enugu.
