****NEWS VI- WAPA Provides Updates Following Tropical Storm Ernesto Power Outages

Main-point:

Today, crews will prioritize restoration of the following feeders:
St. Thomas: 9C, 8B, 7B, 6B, 7A (portion), and Frenchtown
St. John: 7E and 9E (portion)
St. Croix: 8B, 7B, 9B, 6A, 6B and 10B (portion)

Second point: WAPA has engaged contractors to expedite its restoration efforts.

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS (August 15, 2024) - Following the recent tropical storm, the Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority (“WAPA” or the “Authority”) has been working around the clock to restore power to our valued customers and address emergencies on the ground. The Authority understands the challenges and inconveniences faced by our community during this time and we are committed to restoring service as swiftly and safely as possible.

To expedite our recovery efforts, we are partnering with local utility partners to supplement our crews and enhance our ability to restore power more efficiently. We continue to work collaboratively with Department of Public Works clearing large trees and debris in isolated areas.

At the end of day one of restoration efforts, we have restored power to 8,631 customers on St. Thomas, 11,862 on St. Croix and 2,297 customers on St. John.

Today, crews will prioritize restoration of the following feeders:
St. Thomas: 9C, 8B, 7B, 6B, 7A (portion), and Frenchtown
St. John: 7E and 9E (portion)
St. Croix: 8B, 7B, 9B, 6A, 6B and 10B (portion)

To assist with any questions or concerns regarding outages, our Call Center opened today at 9:00 a.m. and our business offices opens today at 12:00 p.m. Our customer service representatives are available to provide support. Please reach out to the Call Center via WAPA’s new hotline number at 340-715-8007 for assistance. For emergencies, please contact 911 who stands ready to provide support.

First, Good Morning All praises to GOD almighty or the most high in your life, mine's is GOD, before I start and do meh walk thru, repairs and do all necessary from last night's "Hurricane" I must start today with a Super Massive Thank You, and cup runneth over Love to Andrea Sewer the VI Weather Lady.

Look when that Hurricane was throwing licks here in Bordeaux (Fortuna) Andrea was dropping those timely post with up to date information letting you know everything about this storm. It's a difference when you "know" what's going on and the duration. And it's explained in plain English.

Mehson that wind from today's storms does sound like a train coming down the tracks.

Anyway Blessings to each and everyone, all praises to God, and Andrea you is the real MVP.

Let me tell you something - Storm time - VI Weather Lady is the meteorologist who I trust.

Hurricane Watch Issued for BVI, USVI, Vieques and Culebra

Good Afternoon Everyone,

As of 11am NHC issued Hurricane watches for our region. Since then TS Ernesto continues to organize and strengthen. Live Hurricane recon reports winds of 55-60mph in the NE quadrant of Ernesto. Everything that has taken place over the past few hours is in alignment with my previous posts "Regional Impacts" and "Increased Convection". My posts moving forward will likely be brief updates and the most recent NHC advisory.

Tropical Storm Wind Probabilities for the USVI have increased as follows:

St. Thomas/STJ - 99%
St. Croix - 95%

Ernesto has slowed down a bit and the WNW track started earlier this morning. Currently, the most significant impacts will be experienced overnight into tomorrow.

Additional details regarding location will be shared after the NHC'S 2pm report.
