I know the BIG anniversary has to be Doctor Who’s 60th, but…
I’m also celebrating my own relatively modest one - 15 years since ScratchNSniff (my radio show, for those who may not know) began on RTE Pulse, and 10 years since it evolved into a podcast! And as I really should mark the occasion before the 10th (online) series starts next week, I have knocked together the ultimate mini-taster ep to showcase some of the cracking guests I’ve had the bonkers pleasure to interview over 15 action packed years. Previous SNS Online guest, Stephanie Beacham, portrays the challenges and triumphs of living with Alzheimer's as Peg in W4 Films’ Grey Matter, coming soon. Stephanie is such a terrific actress and will no doubt grab this part by the short and curlies (says SNS Online!). It will be fascinating to see her in such a different & challenging role, and we’re in no doubt that the finished product will highlight how nuanced her performance can be. Really looking forward!

Today marks the 40th Anniversary since the first episode of Widows transmitted in the UK on ITV back in 1983. Never bettered, Widows was well ahead of the curve and set the bar high for female led dramas.
An incredible, groundbreaking series about a group of newly widowed women who chose to carry out the same bank raid their husbands all died in (during an earlier attempt). It proved so popular that it spawned two sequels - Widows 2 and She’s Out.
With strong scripts by Lynda La Plante CBE & incredible performances by all the ladies - particularly the pitch perfect Ann Mitchell, the series has not dated at all and is as thrilling and watchable as ever.
Both Ann and Lynda have featured in past SNS shows, so it seems the right time to re-share these.

Well this is quite a milestone - 10 years to the second (as this admin types!) since we recorded our first ever SNS Online interview (post RTÉ stint) - setting the show up as a podcast. And we were lucky to get the fabulous Louise Jameson on (currently hoofing it up a storm on Emmerdale) as our first guest, recorded in Studio 62E on the 6th floor/BBC New Broadcasting House, after hours.
Since then we’ve made close to 150 shows (excluding all the RTÉ eps), got to meet an amazing array of guests - including a number of show bizz legends - and…have made precisely no money from any of it..! 😂 Hey, SNS’s Nick was never a good businessman, but the thrill of producing - I hope - quality content, and getting it out there for the masses has more than made up for it. And as a Brucey Bonus, a decent selection have since been doing the rounds on Podcast Radio, a station distilling & broadcasting an eclectic collection of quality poddies from around the world.
So there it is - a happy 10th anniversary to SNS Online. And - later in the year - a happy 15th one to the entire venture, from our RTÉ salad days onwards! 🥳🎈🥳🎈🥳🎈

Since then the show has evolved as an online showcase for actors, musicians, journalists, authors, script writers, stand-up comedians and more - all in the form of exclusive/in-depth one-to-one interviews (with full illustration and free download availability). These shows are independent podcasts produced to the highest professional standards and are non-profit making (also unhindered by advertising).
