Day 4 and final day of our film festival.
Graciousness was the word of the day.
The level of energy was at a smooth perfect level.
Teamwork reigned supreme. Hundreds of moving components meshing together to help give Asheboro this new and unique splash of culture that it desperately needs.
During the course of this whole planning process I personally spoke with over 900 people in regards to putting this event together.
We had 100 film titles on the schedule. We had 25 performers. We gave 42 awards out. Planned for 20 award presenters.
And estimate climbed a zillion steps back and forth from the booth to the stage with my brand new titanium knees I got 7 and 5 months ago.
I was fortunate enough to talk with our guests on honor (The Elfmans) on a daily basis for the last few months. I’ve learned so much from this process, they’ve taught me a lifetimes worth of knowledge since I ran into them in a Hollywood venue a few years back. To have them spend time in Asheboro and for them to get to know our city was a dream in itself. They had never been to North Carolina before, we made that happen.
I am fortunate to have met Sean Haitz and his cast/crew in L.A. and to build a very solid working relationship with them that will last for the long run.
I am also extremely thankful to Tremayne Goff for helping produce the whole event last minute.
Lastly I thank anyone who has supported or thought about supporting this vision. It’s massive it’s ambitious it’s unique and unbelievable but as you see it’s doable. Two years in a row, this one just like the Randolph Hub put in their newspaper, “bigger, bolder, better”
I love you all, and you either see the vision, or division. Believe in me or be leaving me.

FILM FESTIVAL UPDATE.
We will resume today,
January 11, 2025
At 12 noon!

The schedule will be adjusted for all those who are already here or on their way to Asheboro to represent their films.

We will move non represented films to a later date and shorten our award show and make it alot less formal, to make room for more films and performances.

Please come join us. We have a ton of out of town/state filmmakers who have gone through a lot to get here and we need to give them a proper audience.

FILM FESTIVAL UPDATE:
As of now the Sunset Theatre will open up at 12noon Saturday January 11, 2025

We will analyze the road conditions and weather situation more at 10am and give another update if one is required.

Day three. Whole day of screening postponed.
Pivot was the word of the day.

Left Hollywood to come to Asheboro not knowing if their home was going to be left standing or not by the time they returned.
They took a chance, came all they way here and Candace Bongiovanni made sure they took their edge off and had comfort and love and warm meals.
I’ve never seen more of a southern hospitality gesture than I did today. Plus Mark Kemp came to interview and Sean Haitz and Joshua Thomas Pugh of Studio 601 - Photography & Art Gallery, LLCcame to film, Lucifers Axe got into Bellevue Bob gear and Shad Baisden for all the help.

At the moment the earliest we will resume Mightier Than The Sword Awards at Sunset Film Festival is 12noon Saturday Jan 11.
Thank you for all the support and love that some of y’all are showing.

POSTPONED:
Our full schedule for Day 3 (January 10th 2025)
will be rescheduled for a later date.
If you were programmed in those slots please comment that you got the information.
I’m working hard to contact everyone individually.
We will analyze the situation for tomorrow (Saturday Jan 11) as the day/evening progresses.
If you are already in Asheboro, we will prioritize your films when we resume tomorrow, shifting those around to make sure your film shows on the big screen.

We will be discussing options in the morning.
So our Friday Jan 10, 10am-12pm block will be postponed to another date.
Our 12-2pm interview will move off site.
If you are in Asheboro already or on your way and your film is in that block we will prioritize putting that in another block while you are here.
Check back tomorrow (Friday) around noon for updates about if DAY 3 changes any further.
