The government of Lagos State has taken action by closing the Ajah market and dismantling illegal structures situated near the Jubilee bridge.

This operation was conducted jointly by the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), and the environmental task force.

This action is part of the state's "War on Waste" campaign, as declared by the government.

Recently, the state government has been cracking down on markets for various environmental violations.

For example, on October 23, they sealed off the Alaba international market in the Ojo LGA due to poor waste disposal practices, unpaid waste bills, and significant environmental sanitation violations, according to Tokunbo Wahab, Lagos commissioner for environment and water resources.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has expressed his concern over the growing prevalence of idolatry in the South East region, despite the presence of numerous churches.

He pointed out that, among the many who claim to be Christians, only a minority genuinely practice the faith.

He also advised church leaders to prioritize evangelism and soul-winning over physical projects.

Speaking at the 10th edition of the Anglican Prayer Rally of Anambra State in Awka, Soludo urged churches to reduce the fees they charge in schools to make education more affordable for the less privileged in society.

The governor emphasized the importance of governance and Christianity in improving the lives of the poor and vulnerable, reaffirming his commitment to the well-being of citizens despite limited available resources.

Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim, the Archbishop of the Province of Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, called on both federal and state governments to make necessary sacrifices for the betterment of the people.

Rt. Rev. Ephraim Ikeakor, the Bishop of Amichi Diocese, stated that the purpose of the prayer rally was to allow the congregation to connect with God, who desires fruitfulness and multiplication for his children.

Labor Unions to Initiate Complete Shutdown of Imo State, Halt Electricity Services, and Suspend Air Travel In and Out of the Region.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have jointly decided to take significant action by initiating a service withdrawal and shutting down operations in Imo State. This decision, reached during the Joint National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the NLC and TUC on Tuesday, calls for an immediate cessation of services starting from midnight.

The directive is clear: all workers and affiliates must comply with this action, which encompasses grounding flights to and from Imo State, halting fuel supplies, and ceasing electricity provision. Public and private sector workers are expected to cease work indefinitely. Should their demands remain unaddressed, workers across the entire country are poised to join the service withdrawal on November 14, 2023.

This critical resolution was made in response to a series of grievances, including repeated breaches of worker rights, which included the recent abduction and assault of the NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, along with other workers. The leadership of these unions expressed strong condemnation of these actions by the Imo State Government and the Nigeria Police.

These actions were taken due to a variety of issues, including unpaid salaries, the mislabeling of workers as "ghost workers," the destruction of the NLC State Secretariat, discriminatory pay practices, and an accumulation of unsettled gratuity arrears, among other concerns. The unions also decried the government's interference with democratic processes and failure to engage in social dialogue and collective bargaining.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has instructed all its branches across the country to keep providing a variety of both old and redesigned banknotes in adequate quantities to deposit money banks.

This directive was communicated in a statement signed by the Director of Corporate Communications, Isa AbdulMumin, and posted on the bank's official platform.

This decision comes in response to reports of cash shortages in major cities, despite previous assurances from the CBN regarding the availability of sufficient cash nationwide.

The CBN emphasizes that all banknotes it issues are legal tender and should not be rejected by anyone, as stipulated in Section 20(5) of the CBN Act, 2007. Branches of the CBN are directed to continue supplying different denominations of old and redesigned banknotes to Deposit Money Banks for further circulation to customers.

The public is urged to accept all CBN-issued banknotes currently in circulation and avoid panic withdrawals. The CBN also encourages the use of alternative payment methods to reduce reliance on physical cash.
