The creator, Mystro, started the project a few years ago as an outlet to help promote the local artist that he was working with around the city of Richmond, Virginia. After running for a short time, the amount of content started to become too much for one person to manage. This caused Mystro to go back to the drawing board and rethink his formula. Instead of focusing solely one the artist he knew,
why not branch out cover other local talent as well? Also, why cover just music? There are plenty of gifted people doing things besides creating music. He also, didn't have to be the only writer. Bringing in other people who have a passion for writing would increase to material that could be covered as well as provide additional points of view. This more broad concept for HLX Magazine is actually more inline with where the name HLX came from. I'm sure you may be thinking, well what does HLX stand for? It means Higher Level X. So obviously your next question may be what does the X stand for? The X is whatever you want it to be. Whether X = music, fashion, sports, politics, etc. we will do our very best to provide you with that at a Higher Level than anyone else out there. Joining Forces with
Sports was not something that was originally in the scope of HLX Magazine, even after the new direction Mystro was headed. After speaking with friends he meet while at NC A&T, Ali Diggs and Brandon Satterwhite, the idea was presented. Ali and Brandon were working on a sport blog entitled , and after learning Mystro was working on an online magazine they thought it would be best to join forces and build the network together. This seemed like a wonderful opportunity. All these things together have helped HLX become what it is today. We are very excited about this new direction and hope you are as well. Thank you for your support.
