When you start something like a Disney podcast, you don’t consider the folks that will come into your life and leave a huge lasting impact. While we never got to personally meet Liz, we feel like we know her through stories from our wonderful friends Jessica and Landon, and now Liz’s mom Vicky.

In this heartfelt episode, I am honored to share the inspiring story of Liz Hatton, a talented young photographer whose passion for Disney, love for photography, and unwavering strength left a lasting impact on everyone she met.

We’ll take a look at how Liz’s love for Disney first began, how her family fell in love with Disney Cruise Line, and the special connections they made along the way, including meeting Jessica and Landon (former Disney Cast Members and owners of Vacation Grocery Delivery), who are friends that became like family. Liz’s story is one of courage, creativity, and unforgettable experiences, including the incredible moment when she had the opportunity to photograph and meet the Prince and Princess of Wales at Windsor Castle.

Liz’s journey was shaped by her battle with Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor (DSRCT), a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Through her diagnosis, she continued to chase her dreams, inspire others, and use her passion for photography to bring joy to those around her. We’ll also discuss Capture, a charity being created in her honor to support young people and their families facing cancer and to raise awareness for DSRCT research.

The next time a Cast Member goes above and beyond to make magic for you, take a moment to recognize their hard work by leaving a compliment in the My Disney Experience or Disneyland Resort apps!

Just head to the bottom of the app’s menu screen and tap the “Cast Compliment” button. From there, select a positive sentiment, enter the Cast Member’s first name and hometown, and hit submit!

Pro Tip: Double-check the spelling of their name and hometown so they’ll receive their well-deserved recognition. A little appreciation goes a long way in making magic for those who make it for us!

Disney’s Blizzard Beach is turning 30 years old, and Disney Parks Blog is celebrating this frosty, sun-soaked milestone with a look back at its history and a peek at what’s ahead! Since 1995, this ski resort-turned-water park has been bringing thrilling slides, lazy rivers, and icy-themed fun to guests looking to cool off in the Florida heat.

While we love a good celebration, there’s one thing that still stings—we had high hopes that both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon would be open at the same time this summer, especially with Disney offering a free water park day on your arrival day! Unfortunately, that won’t be the case.
