Hyundai has come a long way since it first dipped its toe into U.S. waters with the 1986 Excel. From decidedly cheap and derivative to a line up of (mostly) fresh original vehicles.

Case in point, the 2024 Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy. Yes, if you squint, you might confuse it for a Land Rover, but overall this is a highly differentiated and competitive vehicle in an incredibly competitive segment, going toe to toe with Highlander, Pilot, CX90, Explorer, and Traverse among others.

With styling that separates it from the pack and a list of standard features as long as a CVS receipt, the Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy is no longer the cheaper alternative to established brands. Even still, at $50,525, it feels like a solid value. If that's too rich for your blood, Santa Fe starts at a tick over $35K for a front-wheel drive version in SE trim.

If wagons had been this sexy 20 years ago, we might not be suffering from the SUV infestation we face today. Not only is the Volvo V60 the best looking family hauler on the road today, this T8 AWD Polestar Engineered performance model will thrill you. The plug-in hybrid powertrain makes 455 horsepower and 523 pound feet of torque. The gold colored brembo brakes provide mighty stopping power. The adjustable Ohlins dampers give it the handling characteristics you expect from a car wearing an M or AMG badge. Inside it's all business, with firm sport seats, high quality materials, and clean instrumentation. If there's one weak point, it's the Sensus system which is not the most intuitive infotainment interface in the business.

All this goodness does come at a price. All in, this sports car that can carry your family in comfort will set you back $72,835. A hefty sum to be sure, but if you choose to spend it on the V60 T8 AWD Polestar Engineered wagon, you will have no trouble finding it in the parking lot at the mall.
