Let's edit a podcast episode in 30 seconds!
Ok, not REALLY, but kinda š¤£ā
ā
In this time lapsed video, you get to see my editing process for an episode! Now, this process isn't the exact same for every single show, but there's a lot of similarities, such as...ā
ā
āļø Decreasing persistent background soundsā
āļø Rescuing takes when clipping happensā
āļø Boosting bass for some female speakersā
āļø Reducing the smacking sounds our lips make when talkingā
āļø Improving harsh soundsā
āļø Cutting down the strength of plosivesā
āļø Shortening long pausesā
āļø Reducing dynamic rangeā
āļø Adjusting amplitude based on perceived loudnessā
ā
Does that sound like a lot? Or did it even make sense? š¤£ā

Here's the thing: as an avid podcast listener with very sensitive hearing, I don't do bare basic editing. Honestly, what does that even mean? With pretty much anything I do, I give it my all and everything listed above is part of my foundational editing process. Meaning that every client on any package gets AT LEAST this. That's MY bare basic šā
ā
So, why am I sharing this? Well...ā
1. I think it's cool when folks give us a peek at their behind the scenes work!ā
2. I don't believe most people (even seasoned podcast hosts) really know what goes on behind the scenesā
3. To give you a realistic look into the love, care, + dedication that goes into my promised editing processā
ā
So, wanna have "fun" with a little trivia question? šš¼ā
ā
On average, how long would it take to edit 30 minutes of audio with just one speaker?ā
A. 10 - 20 minutesā
B. 30mins - 1 hourā
C. 1 hour - 2 hoursā
D. about 4 hoursā
